I AM GOING TO BUY A PAIR OF HEADS BUT HAVING A HARD TIME CHOOSING.
I WAS THINKING OF GOING WITH TRICKFLOW 190CC, AFR 185CC WITH A 72 CHAMBER COMBUSTION, OR AFR 205. I PLAN ON PUTTING A 331 STROKER MOTOR IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I WANT TO BE ABLE TO PUT THE HEADS ON MY STOCK BOTTEM END FOR NOW BUT DONT KNOW IF MY BOTTOM END CAN HANDLE THEM ANY SUGGESTION???
HERE ARE SOME MODS OF MY CAR:
trickflow upper and lower
mass air conversion
cold air
75mm acufab throttle body with spacer
fuel pressure regulator
e-cam
pullies
410 gears
long tube headers x-pipe no cats
bigger fuel pump 255
msd ignition

It's just damned scary that I was thinking along those same lines.

My reply was going to be something like, "Females are preferable but not required depending on which side your door is hinged."

Well done, styk.

I'd prefer the Trick Flows.

I also have no idea why you'd want 72cc heads on an NA 302. You'll have no compression ratio.

that would be like 7.9 compression lol. get some tfs twisted wedge heads, or some vic jr 210's, they work like a champ! and throw that POS E cam out the window. you want around a 60cc chamber for a small block ford, regardless of if ya want to boost it, (which boosting a 331 with the stock block is a waste of money anyway) or high compression.

Twisted Wedge 185cc- factory CNC ported. Matched with a 331 stroker and a Comp Cam custom blower cam. Initially made 549rwhp @ 8lbs boost. Redynoed with reduced timing only- 500rwhp. Also has Holley Systemax FI with Anderson Power Pipe. If I upped the boost to 15psi and increased the timing and in my case, bigger injectors, 625rwhp could easily be obtained. I believe i found a winning combination of parts that produces big numbers and the foundation of all of it are those Twisted Wedge heads I'm sure. Just my 2 cents. Good Luck.

Hey, Nik, I was fixin to post stating that I was about to buy some AFR 225's for my 408 build. Why do you prefer trick flows? cost, performance?

Afr uses a gt40 design. Twisted wedges are a competely different design. Imho they are more efficient. I would go trickflow unless I got a screaming deal on afr.

they are good to a certain point, for a mostly stock 5.0 they are good, really the only thing they are good for I think is the valve placed back farther, so you can run a bigger cam. But they do perform! Im kinda feeling mixed up about em lately.

Well, I've done so much research my head's still spinning. from what I can tell,

AFR's are cnc ported, tf's are "fast as cast" unless you spring for porting...flow #'s and dyno pulls are pretty close from write ups I've read.
Tf's do leave room for improvement over afr's with porting.

For what I'm doing I've gotta buy special pistons exclusively for tf's if I chose them.

If I chose afr's I can swap to other inline heads no prob with same pistons..

AFR's are around $4-500 cheaper for 225's.

Ugh my head hurts. no pun intended.
Feel free to politely correct any of this if it is wrong....

here..

ok, these were cnc ported...that 's where the extra cost came from...don't know if that's really a fair comparison...
