First off, there is a difference between the Twisted Wedge and the High Port. They are different heads, so don't confuse that.

The TW head moves the intake valve and changes its angle, which unshrouds it, which ultimately means the TW head will continue flowing air where other heads would fail. Flow bench numbers don't tell the whole story. Also, because of the relocated intake valve, head cc is very misleading. The intake port on a TW head is actually shorter than a traditional inline head (like an AFR), so, the TW head actually has a larger cross section for a given cc number.

For example, a CNC TW 185 is actually roughly equivalent to an AFR 205. If you look at flow numbers for the two heads, this becomes a little more clear (Flow numbers on AFR's website are a little misleading for the 205, because it is flowed on a 4.125 bore, where the TW stuff is all flowed on a 4.030 bore. The bigger bore will show higher numbers).

The TW isn't the end-all-be-all head. It is just a very good head from my research, and is the head that I will be using on my engine build this winter.

Afr orv TW both good heads. I run the AFR 165s with tf stage1 cam and cobra intake ported to match. Car was 330rwhp the added strim=454rwhp all on stock bottom end 302.

AFR and TFS are both premium heads. I had AFR 165s on my 302 and made ~320rwhp n/a. I have 205s on my 331 and made 362 on the break-in n/a with 14:1 AFR and no timing tuning. Made 762rwhp@14psi once tuned.

I've seen TW 302s run similar 290+rwhp numbers. Both companies are at the top.

Hey, Nik, I was fixin to post stating that I was about to buy some AFR 225's for my 408 build. Why do you prefer trick flows? cost, performance?

Well if we are all funnier than 2 1/2 men we need to find the one who is sauced 85% of the day replaces his powdered creamer with cocaine and locks up random strippers in his closet for days at a time while complaining to the cops someone stole his watch, I vote Chester with Clay in close second
