I have a creative writing class in which I have to write a short story. It needs to be 6-16 pages, which I might have some trouble with. So far, I have the intro and then a little more, but need some ideas.
I'm not asking for anyone to write my story for me because academic dishonesty isn't cool
, but some ideas to get some length to this thing would be good:SNSign:
So far, this is what I have:
"The night turned cool and traffic lightened on Black street as the employees left for the evening. Dave slowly made his way up the long, flat, wide road of about half of a mile, which was the main road in an industrial park. As the employees left at midnight, few other vehicles drove down Black until morning. As Dave searched for any last unknown cars, he turned around to double back and make a second pass. As he neared the railroad tracks, he noticed a jet black Mustang only illuminated by the street lamps hanging above and the bright headlights shining in the distance. As Dave awaited the Mustang, he heard the rumble of the V8 engine, and knew it was his friend Mike. Mike – nervous because it was his first time - suggested that they park in an empty lot, turn off their headlights, and wait for the others to arrive.
As cars streamed in one by one, everyone gathered in the center of the parking lot to discuss the night ahead. After all of the people were there, Brad and Shane unloaded “Road Closed” signs at each end of the road – to give the illusion that the road is under construction and to deter potential threats, and possibly police. With cigarette lighters in hand, Brad and Shane each sat on one end of Black road to watch for suspicious vehicles, police, or anyone who could spoil their night. If threatened, they were to shoot a colorful firework into the air to alert every one of the unwanted guests. If spotted, they had minimal time to react if they were to remove everyone from the location without getting caught."
I'm not trying to suggest street racing, it's simply a story. The setting is actually what happened outside my work (I work 3rd shift), except for the road signs.
I'm thinking about leading up to a big race, in which something stalls it, and eventually it takes place. Maybe something bad will happen and someone will end up in the hospital.
Any other ideas? I just wanna get this stupid gen ed. class over with and graduate in May of next year w/ my Bachelors
EDIT: I realize it may take some proof-reading and I may have to break out the thesaurus. Suggestions in that area are welcome, as well though.
