My brother bought a Harley Dyna Low Rider from Paul Sr.'s nephew. We drove out to Montgomery, NY from Iowa City, IA on friday. Left at 6am and arrived in New York around 11pm (lost an hour in IN). We stayed at the hotel right next to the new shop/showroom. The nephew said Paul Sr. agreed to meet us at the shop and give us a personal tour since we agreed to drive out. Well, the gift shop/showroom was packed on saturday, so he invited us out to his house instead! We snaked our way out to his beautiful property, and met him and his nephew. We were trying to be cool and not take up a lot of his time, but he didnt act bothered at all. Him and his nephew were only going fishing when we left. We shot the ****, and while my bro took the bike down the long driveway his nephew offered to show me and my Dad all of Paul's cars. Well, as were walking to the garage (which is bigger than the house) we see my bro stalled the bike turning around at the end of the driveway, and it wouldnt start back up. So I jogged down to try to help him out and didnt get to see the cars afterall. My Dad said he had quite the collection (Shelby Cobra, Some Mopars, a GTO +more), and his nephew later told me that he is a bigger car guy than he is bikes... My Dad is big into photography and took limited pics to avoid being nosey, but as soon as he emails them to me I will post them up. Sr. was a real stand up guy and signed some things we picked up from their gift shop earlier in the day. Lol, and they showed us where Mikey burried the truck in the pond. Anyway, I just had to share my enthusiasm because I feel quite lucky to have experienced it! As I said above, I will post the pics when my Dad gets them to me. :flag:

P.S. PA is a beautiful state to drive through!

I'm not. I've seen the show, but to be honest custom bikes do nothing for me. I know they do a lot of charity work and i give em kudos for that...but their bikes don't really get my attention

I'm not a fan of harleys, choppers or any cruiser bike.

Yeah, Paul said that Discovery (owner of TLC) signed them for another year. I didnt realize it, but he said they have been doing the show for 7 years now... He said that it is starting to wear on him, but he is not ready to give it up just yet. It would kinda be a PITA to not even be able to go to the gas station and fill up your own vehicle without being bum rushed... Another cool thing about him was that he talked about how thankful he was to have all he does, but he has learned that the material things dont keep you happy forever. It made me more of a fan once I met him and realized through talking that they dont get involved with the charities just for good PR, they actually like helping people.

I met them most of them twice, Paul Sr, Paul Jr, Mikey, Vince, Christian, Pool, Cody, and Rick. Both times were at the old shop. Yes, they were all very nice guys even though they were they were busy they took time to meet you.

I didn't have my camera for visits because I allways forget to bring it on the road with me. Pics were taken by another in our group and he's stingy on given them up. I personaly don't like to bother people for pics. Their working and busy.

The second time was prior to Vinny leaving, we gave them a tour our jet parked at Stewart AFB. Vinny seamed a little rude/bothered. We were just hanging around the shop and watching him and he asked us if we wanted a pic with him kinda like- take the pic and go... I didn't take my pic with him.

I have not seen the show in a few years, I thought it was no longer going on...I only seem to catch the odd repeat. Is it on Disc. or TLC now? I will have to reset the Tivo and watch.

They do seem to be thankfull of what they have and work hard to keep it. Sr from what I have seen on the show has busted his butt building the company he has. Jr gets it but Mikey...you can tell they just put him in there for his comedy but at least he knows it.

Sounds like a cool road trip.

A few of the pics

It was a great road trip, and I was happy to see Paul wasnt annoyed by us and actually joked around and whatnot. The PA hills were giving my bro's truck's tranny some fits. Looks like he may be replacing his TC. She made it home though, and all went well. Nothing like traveling 2000 miles round trip in 49 hours. Thats getting 8 hours of sleep after we got there friday night and taking a few hours to look over the bike and BS around town checking out that old shop and stuff. We did some team driving and drove straight through from saturday afternoon until we got home this morning. I had a great time, and its good memories made with my bro and my dad. Im just waiting for my dad to send me some pics! Oh, and the show is on TLC now. Discovery owns TLC from what they were saying.

Ok, my Dad sent a few pics:

I thought this Lugz bike was badass

When my bro stalled the bike, none of us could get it started. My Dad and Sr drove down to us, and Sr sat on the damn thing and it started right up. He gave us a lot of crap for it! Left to right are Nick (Paul's nephew), My bro Greg, and then Sr.

This one is all of us, and the nephew took the pic. Im the skinny kid on the right, and thats my Dad in the middle. Bro was on the bike sitting up on the trailer.

Sorry for the super long post, just still excited about the whole thing. It was a really fun experience for me. :nice:

Sounds great. I've been watching the show on and off since it started. The 9/11 bike they did for the NYFD made me a true fan. Seems like a cool bunch of guys.

How's the bike drive?

Adam

My bro must have just flooded it somehow when turning it around. Then by the time my Dad and Paul came down it was probably ready to roll after sitting a few minutes. Once Paul started it it ran great. He went around the neighborhood if you want to call it that. It was a small mountain road with random nice houses here and there. He said it ran great. Its a 2000 with only 1501 miles on it. VIN checked out, and Sr. actually looked into it to make sure it was legit before his nephew bought it. Nick bought it with 1205 and only rode less than 300 miles in the year or so that he owned it. He claims Paul was building him a bike for the reason of selling it. I wondered about it sitting as much as it did, but they put fresh gas in it for my bro, and he said it was nice and smooth with no sputterin...

I think Disc., TLC, and maybe the History channel are all the same company...but I am not sure...I want to say there is a 3rd channel or more though.

Those bikes are NICE, I like the one on the rack (being built). It has a nice stance.

I didnt know Vinnie left even...that kinda sucks since Jr and him had been friends for so long. Business and friendship is a rough path.

When I last saw a new episode you could tell they were getting tired of the show and just wanted to build bikes.

Yeah, it would be fun for a while, but I cant imagine a camera in your face for 7 years! Plus, some fans Im sure are just over the top. Thats why we tried to just treat them like everyday people. Last thing I heard was that Vinnie and Cody were starting their own shop? That would be tough to compete with OCC, but cool if they succeed. Im not sure if that is truth or just a rumor though...

The Military Channel, Animal Planet, etc

I'm not into bikes, but that is a cool story none-the-less. My interest has been growing though!

PA really is a beautiful place with an ever changing landscape... maybe that's why I'm so hooked on taking pictures of my car, there are just too many good locations not to. LOL! Do you remember what road you were on in PA? Was it interstae 80?

Yeah, we drove straight through on I-80. Im sure there are even prettier places here and there, but we were on a mission. The Apalacians (sp?) along I-80 were my favorite. I come from Iowa where its bare in the winter, and corn or beans in the summer. Very little trees, with even fewer hills... The only thing that bothered me was the layout of the towns we stopped it. Every business was at a different level on the hill, and the streets seemed to maze around town. Im used to parallel, perpendicular and flat!

from the limited pictures of what i seen, theyre very plain jane... im sure theyre good at what they do still, but pauly had the ideas...

Yeah I agree, that V-Force1 was pretty plain. Maybe they just threw one together to take to a couple upcoming shows just to get their names out there. I bet if they took their time they could come up with some creative work. I guess we will find out, cause Ill probably keep an eye on it now.
