Sometimes i think i want a DOHC Mod Motor so bad and all for one reason..they are the best sounding motors that i have ever heard! My friends 96 Cobra with side exhaust just teases the fawk out of me

yeah the only mod i would want would be a 32 valve nothing against the 2 valves but ill take an extra two per cylander anyday

i'm with you. a 5.0 pushrod motor is what i wanted because there so easy and fun to mod and parts are very available and cheaper. that mod **** is a little more complex compared to the windors. Also with the right exhaust, you cant beat the sound. hearing my car rev up from behind gives me shivers up the spine

if i didnt buy my 5.0, then i would buy a LT1 Formula or a 1977 Trans Am.

When I was looking for my car I could have bought a 96gt or my 95gt. I went with the 5.0 becuase they were eaiser to work on and it was the last year.

a 4 valve yea.. but not a 2v.

My 2v car is nice for quiet smooth cruising, but if your in the mood for loud, obnoxious rumbling power, the 5.0 is hard to beat.

whell i do like teh fact that those blocks can support way more power than ours before splitting, however i wouldent want one. PLEEEEASSEE there is nothing better sounding than a 5.0.

I'd take any mod motor over a 5.0. I certainly love the 5.0, but you cannot beat a properly built mod motor. 32V's specifically will FLY with ported heads, bigger valves, and a good valve job, even with the stock cams. Widen the LSA up on the cams and the car will be a rocket ship. Slap cams in it, and you are looking at 10's on slicks and suspension work. All of this cam be driven on the street as well. The more and more I contemplate this, this will be my next project after I grenade my car - 32V N/A with stock cams and stock crank and rods going 10's, pump gas (or 100 octane) and street legal.

I'm not busting anyones balls or calling anyone out in particular, but if you say that the 4.6's are easier to work on, you probably shouldn't be touching a car in the first place. It's the same idea, except with no pushrods and camshafts in the cylinder heads. Besides, when's the last time you've lifted a valve cover off the 5.0 anyway? What makes you think you'd be doing it any more with a 4.6?

Sometimes when i watch 03 cobra vids i think damn that would be sweet to have. But then whenever i see pics of a 32v motor taken apart it reminds me how much i love my 5.0. Also im really big on old school muscle and i love the blend that the 95 gives me of new tech and old school.

Well, considering that lifting the valve covers on a 4V would require taking the engine out of the car...

Blah they are both great engines why argue... the 5.0 does sound meaner though

Strangely, I can't tell much difference between the 5.0 and a 2V 4.6. I like them both. The new 3V is awesome as well!

And I still, after all my attempts, have not been able to get this fool banned for talking such ridiculous nonsense.

Who says you've got to take the motor out of the car? Why not just lift it up a bit?

You know, I almost got lucky a few days ago. At my Dad's work, an '03 Mach 1 came in on a rollback. My Dad being the shop foreman usually works on the jobs that make you go "hmmmm," so he got the job. According to the owner, the car magically "stopped working" about a week ago and he "had no idea why." First he hooked it up to a computer and noticed that sometime while the motor was still "working," the computer went berzerk and was getting tons of fuel dumped through it. Mind you this is a "stock" Mach 1. 9 hours later, with the motor out of the car, he finds that the ringlands are totally roached, the pistons show clear signs of detonation, valves are nasty and 1 spring is broken. It seems that the idiot owner strapped a ton of nitrous to it, used 87 octane, and let it eat itself alive. My Dad knows how bad I want a 4V and offered the guy "some money" for the motor. He said no and instead worked out some deal with Ford for a brand spankin' new '04 Mach. I swear some people don't deserve these cars....

I s'pose that would work. But I think if I had to dig into a mod motor, I'd rather have it on a stand anyway. I'm hoping I never have to find out what the inside of my 4V looks like.

(and now I digress...)

I just bought me a Dynojet Wideband Commander. Ever heard of it? Kinda cool -- permanently mounted wideband, 2 1/16" gauge that I'll just mount on the A-pillar. Data logging ability, and you can program it to show a warning light if you are above a specified A/F ratio, while above a specified RPM, and above a specified TPS voltage . Neato toy!

I love the way the modular's sound. I hear mach's and cobras all the time with exhaust done and they are just amazing. Both pushrods and modulars have a distinctive sound, both sound good which one you like more is to your discretion. The modulars have a lot more advantages IMO of course this is the case with all new technology. This does not mean the 5.0 isn't a good motor. Two words come into play for me 'cost efficiency'. For me, it's cheaper to mod a 5.0 for performance than it would be a modular motor. Which is why I made the choice of my car. If money weren't that much of an object for me i'd probably be driving an 03 cobra right now.
