Any one here Wish they had a Mod Motor?

i had a 96 2v. slow. pi headswap would have cost $3000 and that would have gotten it to stock (maybe a little above) 99+ power. the idle was smooth as glass though.

i sold it (for $8k) to get my 95 (for $7k).

heads, intake, exhaust, and a whole bunch of other stuff cost a total of $4k (installed). so for the extra $3K for the pi headswap, i ended up getting a more powerful car with a bunch more goodies.

i love my 5.0 and will stick with it. the block can easily handle my goal of 350 rwtq n/a.

maybe if the mod motors and parts cost the same as they do for the 5.0, then i might consider going back.

I would either take a yellow 98 cobra or 99 cobra and put a bottle on it with full exh. gears, and a good tune.

or a 03-04 cobra and (dont flame me) keep it stock. well maybe a solid axle.

I love my 5.0, but I also like the 4v, I have been wanting to build a 32 3 window after things settle down with a house and get a few years under my belt in the work force after I graduate. A 03-04 cobra motor with a artcarr/lentech would be :spot: .

I just bought me a Dynojet Wideband Commander. Ever heard of it? Kinda cool -- permanently mounted wideband, 2 1/16" gauge that I'll just mount on the A-pillar. Data logging ability, and you can program it to show a warning light if you are above a specified A/F ratio, while above a specified RPM, and above a specified TPS voltage . Neato toy!

Nope, I've never heard of it. It sounds pretty cool and I'd be interested in reading about it. Got a link?

Sometimes i think i want a DOHC Mod Motor so bad and all for one reason..they are the best sounding motors that i have ever heard! My friends 96 Cobra with side exhaust just teases the fawk out of me :(
I agree, those 4V's sound sweet as hell. I love hearing my bros mach pull away. :nice:

Just put an X pipe on your car and then tease your buddy with the sound of pushrod powa! :jester:

Not really, not the 2V anyway. Maybe a 4V, but even then it would have to be an 03/04 Mach or 01+ Cobra. But anything else and I'll stick with the 5.0 that makes gobs of power where I like it, down low. :) Plus, my 5.0 with o/r h-pipe, and super 40's dumped is a LOT louder than my friend's 04 Mach with LT's, o/r x-pipe, and super 40's with tailpipes. And it cost me a lot less to do it too! :nice:

The 4-valves are nice, but I will still take my 5.0 any day. Whenever someone asks about my car or sees it, they always say "oh yea, love the 5.0" They are also cheaper/easier to work on, and as others have said...nothing sounds like a 5.0. The only car I've heard in a while that I liked better than the sound of my car was a guy around here who has a silver 03 cobra droptop with LT's, 3" X, SpinTech ProStreets, and finished off with 3" tails/3.5" tips. The thing sounded just plain ferocious. But yea, it took a modded (he's got some head porting and different cams, ported eaton, and all the normal 03-04 mods you hear of pretty much...) 03 snake to make me wish mine sounded better, not too bad :flag:

For me, it's the same old Ford story: Great engine........in the wrong chassis.
Put that 4-cammer in something smaller and I would be interested, a la' the original 289 Shelby Cobra.
Notice Shelby didn't choose a Lincoln Continental :rlaugh:

(I have the same issue with the Duratech 2.0L/2.3L; another great engine burdened with a bloated Ranger chassis)
