Anyone having probs running 275's on the stock 8" rim. I'm looking to do some road course and some auto crossing but mostly street. I'm worried about them rolling but have never put that wide of a tire on a 8" wheel before. What are your guys thoughts. I know people are going to say don't so it it's to big of a change but guys that have done it what are the pro's and cons? thanks

I just put on 275/35/18 on my 9" rims. The tire fits perfect and even protects the rim nicely. I would say get 9" wide rims if you want to do it right. Especially since you want to autocross. You would get better performance from a 245 or 255 on an 8" rim than with a 275 on a 8". Yes you can physically fit a 275 on an 8" but the tire was not designed for it and you will be losing performance guaranteed. All these guys say "well I did it so it must be ok." I would love to see a comparison autocross from a car with 275 on an 8" and a 275 on a 9". I would put all my money on the car with the 9" wide rims.

My friend has 275/40's on his x8's, they work fine, just look a little funny cuz they stick out so far, especially in comparison to his 245/45's up front.

I dont know if you wanna put 275's on stock rims if your going to be auto crossing and road racing. But if this car was your daily driver that you sometimes bring to the DRAG strip then 275's on stock rims would be fine. But I think 245's or 255's on stock rims would handle better then 275's.

Hes right, for drag racing/street driving 275's are fine. But if your planning on road course/autox'ing a 275 tire will hurt your times on an 8" rim. The tire is too wide for the rim and allows the sidewall to flex and move side to side and this will make you cars handling loose. Stick to 245 or 255's for road racing, and 275 for the drag. Thats what I use.
