Crankshafts are the same. The rear main cap and block is differrent. You can pick up a late model used roller block for $75 - $100. Spend the machining cost on cleaning, honing, and boring.
I just went through all this. Stick with your 69 block, it is much stronger than the newer roller blocks. Just live with the two piece and a little oil drip.

i have 3 HO blocks as it is, one needs to be allign bored, it has 700 miles an rebuild. it is a .060 block. the other is out of a 200,000 + tbird, it needs a bore job, the other is out of an 87 gt and i am using that in my 82 f150, i found out that the 69 block is as strong as the B50 sportsman block and it is in very good condition.i just want to know if i need to have that oil slinger ring on the back of the main seals journal or not to not hurt anything. i also just found out that it is about a 5 minute job to make a 1 piece seal fit at the machine shop but i could do it with a die grinder and lot of time.
