My dad is visiting from seattle this week, so we rented him an Infinity G35 to drive while he is here. I drove the car to pick him up from the airport last night and I love the car. I had a blast weaving in and out of Chicago rush hour traffic with it. The auto-stick is just like a 5speed without the clutch. It stops and handles awesome.....kinda peppy too. And Oh my god.....I've never heard a stock exhaust V6 sound soooo good. Anyways.....anybody have any experience with these cars. The wife's GTP is getting close to being payed off and I'd love to put her in a G35. Just looking for opinions?

No clue whatsoever. Never drove one before. The reason I stopped by this thread though is because I just knew the autostick would issue would come up. How cool would it be to fit one of those trannys into a Fox? hehe I wonder how much torque they would take or if there would be some sort of solution out there to handle the computer control.

Yeah my dad has a G35 and the thing is fun as hell, the only one thing that i dont really like is that it doesnt have to much torque down low.

You probably rented the car for the company I work for. I get a new car every few days. I drive the G35 every chance I get. I love the car, it's a little small for me. I am 6'1" and about 260.

Lots of power and handles great. I would love to buy one for my wife, but its a little small for the car seats, strollers, etc..

I've love to own a G35 coupe. I've test driven several and they are just incredible cars.

I've only driven the 6-spd versions however so i can't comment on the autostick in the G35, but i've driven the Maxima version (same) and hated it. IMO if you are used to driving a true manual then you will really never get used to an autostick.

The 6-spd was a dream to drive though. I forget the technical name for it but it would rev-match on it's own for the downshifts. I couldn't tell if it was the computer doing the rev matching for me or the flywheel/clutch/trans having some sort of dampener sort of like some high end motorcycles do that make downshifting easier.

Car handled the balls but didn't have as much torque down low. A healthy Mustang should beat a stock one.

Of course that's not why you buy a G35. With the sunroof, HID's, NAV and all that, it's a sport luxury car with some nut. The Bose Stereo blows though. It's only 250 watts and quality suffers at higher volumes. I remember when i got back into my GT after the test drive my Mach 460 sounded much better.

I see you can buy one only a year or two old for mid 20s, I think it would be worth every penny. I just gotta convince the wife now....lol

I own a 2003.5 G35.It is sporty and roomy for 4 people but the driver's seat is narrow. The stereo is fine.My fair weather stang is way more fun to drive due to the G's poor low end punch and auto tranny. But it has nice passing power. It is a bit squeak and rattle prone.Overall,I like it.

Personally from experience i can say that my old 93 Infiniti J30 T was the most well built car i have ever been in. that car went 270k miles without having to do anything but change the oil and the injectors.
I have ridden in the G35 and will buy a coupe as my daily driver once out of college. the G35 coupe is classy, fairly quick, handles unreal, and looks sexy!

i have yet to be impressed with any Mercedes or BMW i haev been in yet, in that sort of class. Though i drve a CLK 320, the 2 door vert, and it was REALLY nice, as was the s500 and 525i i drove. Of course that is not in the same class as a 3 series or G35...but i think the Japs have just as good of quality in most areas.

My grandpa has a blue G35 coupe. That thing is pretty quick and fun.One time we raced some sort of newer Lexus with it and demolished it.Once the car hit about 2000rpm it starts to pull and it keeps pulling on and on.It's a nice car.

I would love to have a black 2 doors G35... As soon as I have money i'll seriously think about getting one... Mustangs are way too heavy on gas, and this thing has handling!

I'm the exact same way. theres a girl in my school with a black coupe and it's such a hot car (and girl too lol). Ever since I saw it I've wanted one more than any other car. I think its probably the coolest moderately priced luxury car out there. 300hp, RWD, and a 6 speed stick= awesome. too bad they're so damn expensive

They are pretty quick the one that i drive, which is my dads when my car isnt able to be driven, is the G35x. That is the four door awd one. It is pretty quick actually. One time on the highway I raced a fox body with just an exhaust and i actually won. He wound up giving me the finger later on further down the highway. My dad doesnt like it that much but i do. Well the next car he said he will probably get is the Jeep SRT-8. Now that will be sweet.

i test drove many car when i was considering a new car... there is something about BMW's that is unexplainable..you just have to drive one! mine is a 03 325i sports package stock sports package. aftermarket: stoptech Cross drilled/rotors, axxis ultimate pads, carbon fiber cold air intake, 19X8.5 wheels.

i will agree my 5.0 vs. my BMW would be a slaughter!!!
however my DR (BMW) has stereo controls on the wheel, A/c, heat, leather, tinted windows, comfort, and the agility and handling is uncomparable. the only other DR i would trade for would be my cars big brother the M3...

oh yeah back to the main point you cant beat american raw power...

here is a pic....theres a mustang in the background i swear
