I just bought my old Mustang back and the Heater Core is out. I have done the job before on a friends fox and I know what all is involved. I am thinking of just saying screw it since this is just going to be a toy car anyway. Even with temps in the low 50's the other day it was comfortable enough with a sweat shirt riding in the car, and I don't plan on taking it out when the temps are any lower than that. Anyone else decide to just not worry about it when their core went out or am I just LAZY LOL :D?

My heater core was leaking into my floor so I bypassed it. Granted I live in florida but I've been without a/c and heat for about 3 years now. Summers are alright because I just roll the windows down, but being a Floridian winters can get pretty rough, like around now, it doesnt get cold in florida till about late jan-march, I was actually wearing shorts and a shirt on christmas day, but its been getting into the 30's at night these days, but with a thick jacket, long pair of jeans and a smoke im fine, oh gotta wear the gloves too, but never once said "DAMNIT I wish I had heat" ok I probably have but I dont complain. Oh and it is a daily driver.

i just bypassed mine recently because it was leaking coolant on the floor as well.

Its like 17 degrees outside. It sucks. And i take a hour and a half long trip every couple of weeks. My feet are numb by the time i get there! Thats with four layers up top, three layers on bottom, gloves, and a cap.

wheeeeeee

if it only got down to 50 i wouldnt have done mine... twice.

when i first got the car i lived on campus, so not having heat was ok. when i had to drive the car 30 minutes to work in below freezing temps i did it. next winter, did the heater hoses, and pulled the copper tube out of the core. so ford warrentied the part, but didnt change them out till last weekend.

when and if mine goes out it's getting bypassed. My car too is just a toy, and is stored winters. In the fall it gets chilly, more at night, I'll just dresswarm. So I guess you wouldn't be the only one who is lazy :D.

my heater has never worked well at all. it blows luke warm air at best, and sometimes when i turn it on it smells like coolant, perhaps there is a slight leak?
maybe its clogged, even if it was leaking, i would still expect to get hot air out of vents.

anyways last weekend i drove my stang probably 50-60 miles last saturday night with the temps in the low 20s with no heat. started out cold but eventually me and my GF's body heat warmed the inside up, but its hands/fingers that get the coldest and never seem to warm up.

I too live in the phx area and dont have the heating system in me automobile. it doesnt get that cold. I driver at night a lot and I just keep the windows up to avoid the wind and dress a little warmer.
