ive got 3:73s and it takes my car 2 weeks to rev up with 28'' tires. ive got a g-force t-5 and i can pick up a set of 4:56 gears pretty cheap.

just wondering if anybody has this setup, and if it may be too much gear.

haha,i'll let you know hopefully in a week or 2 when i finish my lx.it used to be automatic and it ripped.well when i changed to 5lug i found out why.popped the cover the the gear was stamped 456 haha, and on top of that i have a 4cyl trans in the car.should be interesting.

thats like puttin 5:13s in ha, it will be an awsome drift car but will suck to drive in the rain an its not gonna be any fun when you get beat by hondas becuz you spin through all 5 gears lol.

woody, i would just go to a smaller tire. maybe a 26 or start modding some more so you can turn the 28s better. 4:56's are wayy to much gear unless its strictly a drag only car. even then not many cars you see are gonna have gears like that unless its a 2 speed auto or something lol.

the car i just bought has a 4:11 gear in it with a stock motor is this too much ?how much of a difference is this going to be for me and should i go with a smaller gear with the way gas prices are headed.

depends, with an 8cyl trans an not to much highway use you should be fine. alot of people love 4:10s on fox's. i think 3:55s or 3:73s are best all around gear an its been proven but it depends on the combo your running. on a near stock motor the two gear ratios i stated are best choice. only reason to go with crazy gears is for 2 reasons, for either a heavy car...or a car with not enough torque. are cars make pretty decent torque stock if its running right so its really up to the owner on what gears an what you intend to use the car for. all in all...4:10s are a not to crazy so you should fine, i doubt there killin your gas milage unless your commuting like crazy on the highway.

sorry to hijack this thread and thanks for the reply .i plan on driving this car everywhere when it's done .i guess i will worry about the rear end after it is all done and see how bad it is.

my motor makes plenty of horse and i think i over exagerated a little. it turns the 28s pretty good, but my power band is from around 3500-6200 and it bogs off the line.

i really want to put a set of 4:30s in it but i can get the 4:56s for a good price.
