anybody using tall ford racing valve covers?

Mine cleared with one 1/2" spacer.....These are 4" tall....Got hood clearance for 2 spacers???
Watch for possible interference at the alternator....mine had to be "massaged" to fit...
I run a Fox set-up to...

If you dont have the fox tb conversion you will need to get creative with a grinder or dremel. I have the 4 in tall chrome valve covers with a 1 inch spacer and still needed to shave down the egr and the idle air control valve a little bit. Also the egr tube needs to be lengthen.

How much "massaging" did it require? Any pics?

Is there a smaller alternator that us SN95 guys can use so we don't have the valve cover hitting it?

My alternator hits just a little, but not enough to hurt anything. I did have to turn the back of the alternator around, otherwise the power wire hit the valve cover. I could have just had the back on wrong from when I took it apart to polish it.

Good info guys, I want to go to the tall VCs myself (posted a few months ago, but my intake still hasn't shown up :bang: )

What intakes are you guys running with this?

What are the components that interfere (other than the altenator)?

Im using the Edelbrock Vic5.8 EFI intake, and the only other problem I've had with the VC's was the throttle cable bracket(fox style) hit on them. I just cut the end off it where the kickdown cable went.

Mine hit about in the same area...I didn't see any way to shift the alt or even shim it forward for a tad more room...right where mine hits there's a boss and a cover that say's TEST....I cut a 1" hole in the offending area, used Alum tape to "form" an indented area....used JB weld to skim the tape both I.D. and O.D.....no leaks and its way outta site...

I also had to massage the throttle cable for clearance...i ran 2 gaskets on the upper section of the intake...fixxed that... :D check the holes in the cover...thats was the issue for me..like 1/2 hole off...these VCs have no rib to locate the gasket or i would have reamed the VC hole larger to solve it...

This is why you need the 1/2 spacer....the cable falls right into the middle bolt hole...you can see it's no go without lifting the upper...

I used one of the plugs/grommets like you find in your door or trunk...Fit the balls...
