buyfordracing.com... i see their ads in 5.0 and mm&ff, and they have a disc brake conversion with 13 in front and 11.65 inch rotors in the rear for $1900.00 Is this a deal or should i go with something else?

I've bought from them a couple times - good folks IMHO.

Stuff like you're lookin at is so far out of my budget, I couldnt tell ya (I'm a J/Y upgrade kinda' guy).

Good luck.

buyfordracing.com sold me my gt40y aluminum heads for $699, and shipped them very quickly.

But if you are looking to do a brake upgrade and goto 5 lug, (which is the wise thing to do), it can be done probably for $900 less than that kit.

I did my fronts for around $500 and my rears for less, but you need axles if you are 4 lug now. (i was already 5 lug).

Ebay is your friend.
Look for 94/95 spindles, bullit/cobra/mach 1 calipers, cobra rear calipers, or even 6 banger rear calipers (these can be opened up with a chop saw). 5 lug stock length axles, northracecar brackets ($150). 95 rear brake hoses, 94/95 or 93 cobra MC, proportianing valve. and braided lines to mate pbr calipers to fox lines for the front.

Good shopping can easily get it done for a grand. Some parts may be used, but you'll be ok as long as they are real ford.

2000, I think he's talking about the Cobra brake conversion which is the huge 13 inch fronts and disc rears, 5 lug with 4 piston per caliper fronts and two piston rears if memory serves. It's an ok price I think it lists for like $2300 or something in the Ford Racing catalog.

I think you mght be able to get that same kit at Mustang Warehouse for a bit cheaper. It's been a while since I've looked at their price, but it used to be just over 1800

I just finished piecing together a SN95 cobra brake kit (13" fronts w/ dual piston calipers and 11.65" rears) off of ebay over the last month and spent about $1000 including new 5 lug axles, wheels and tires. That's with shipping.
It is basically the same kit your talking about. Just used instead of new. Here are a few websites you can check out on doing the swap, parts you'll need etc.

This site contains an overview of many possible brake upgrades for foxes.

This site has a lot of good pictures and info on doing the cobra brake swap.

well my problem with buying all the parts seperately is i fear that i'll mess it up and something wont fit, or ill be missing something. Also, i need to do this swap pretty soon because my rotors are warped and it doesnt make any sense to me to replace them if im gonna do this.

I know,
all that kit is, is what i listed basically.
That's why i said to piece it together. It's also very similar to the Baer kit, nearly the same. Which also uses pbr calipers.
Almost all of the upgraded front calipers are pbr except brembo.

Dean, look at it this way, you save say, $600, that's $600 to spend on other parts. The parts list is rather simple, i listed nearly all of it above.

I dont know what pbr means, and i didnt know Baer made a complete kit... and the nearly you mentioned is the part that makes me hesitant

I don't have time right now to make the entire list, but i will later.

In the meantime here's the #1 mustang brake site, note the pic on the opening page, that is a pbr caliper.

Here's another:

I used almost all new parts, except the 94/95 spindles, which is a better design than any of the kit's anyway.

Check out those two sites I listed. The first one has evrything laid out pretty well, plus things to consider depending on what you want to do. The second one has a complete list of what you need to do the cobra swap. Plus a step by step explanation of how to do it and what problems were encountered while doing the swap with pictures. You could always just buy the kit from ford, but you will spend twice as much.
