Looks like everyone has decided between Comp or VT....maybe a few bought Hyland....I am curious why no one has mentioned Crower for the 4.6. They have an excellent long lived reputation and have some very good-looking cam specs for the NPI motors anyway. The stage 2 listed for supercharged applications in particular. Calling all Crower Cam buyers...you out there? What are some of the reasons most of you guys are going Comp and VT?

Haven't bought Crower yet but, I agree with you on their cam specs. I like what I see. Their stage 1's are on my short list.

I got crower stage 3 blower cams... I like them a lot. Initially I had a bad grind on one of the cams but Crower was very helpful and we were able to quickly resolve the issue. No PTV issues with dished manley pistons.

How high have you taken your rpms up to so far? have you any issues with stall? I cant wait to get my motor back together, and see what these stage III crowers will do for me, looks like you have some real respectable numbers going for ya. hope I get close to what you have. I should have every thing done in 2 to 3 weeks

taken it up to 6300 rpm's (1st) and therafter it shifts in the vicinity of 6000-6300 rpm's. no issue with stall, got a pi 9.5" triple disc locking converter; set idle at 900 rpm's, which is probably a little high because the car accelerates when i dont have my foot on the gas (it doesnt take off but it's annoying especially when a cop is behind me), but that's just a minor tuning issue, no real big deal. they make the car sound like a real race car, and the car screams in the powerband. with stage 3's the low end suffers just a little because of the high lift, but the top end more than compensate's.

Are they Re-grinds? You guys think I'd have PTV clearance probs with my '98 PI headswapped GT(stock flat tops)? Anyone have a link or know the cam specs? I have been looking for some bigger cams for my car and am having a hard time with PTV and choosing between the different lifts and durations.

no they are not regrinds, they are from billet cores. you would probably have PTV contact with non dished pistons on a stage 3 with .612 lift. here is a link for the crower cam specs: http://www.crower.com/cat/domestic/ford/mustang_camshafts.shtml

I would call crower, speak to dustin and see what he reccomends for your build.

It wouldnt matter if you have dished or flat tops, as the intake valve can still hit the outer ring of any dished piston, I talked to crower and rpm outlet and they said they have no known issues with ptv with the crower cams, however never assume, always check to be sure, and just because you dont have ptv when you rotate the engine by hand does not mean you wont have ptv at 3000 rpms, be sure to get good springs to prevent valve float. I think most people that have had ptv on these modular 2v were using regrinds and not upgrading springs.

Yeah I bet that car sounds hell a mean, cant wait to hear how my car is gonna lope, Im glad to hear everything is running good at that rpm for you, I really think these cams will love staying at high rpms.
