Anyone else shuttle their dogs around in their GT?

My English Bulldog has never been in either Mustangs. And never will be for that matter. All she'd do is scratch up the leather... But she is adorable, and loves to go for rides in the Explorer.

i drive my girlfriends dog around all the time. we have gone on 200+- trips all over mi. never have had any problems with her dog. but we always have to top down so it may just blow out.???

We have a 105 lb Giant Schnauzer that drools when he catches a whiff of female canine butt in the the air - so it's the back of the Odyssey for him and his XXXL crate.

If he had to get in the GT it would be have to be in the front seat and, yes, there are special harnesses to tie him into the seat belt. And a few large towels...

No, they don't really need seatbelts but if you're really anal, there are dog seats that hold them strapped in. I doubt a lab will be calm enough to stay strapped in to a seat. I would think that work maybe for little dogs. A passenger seat cover and a rear seat cover hammock style like what I have would protect your car a lot from the dog scratching/dirtying it up. If you have a small place, a lab (especially younger) can knock stuff over with his tail and go nuts. If you walk the Lab a lot that will help. But they need a lot of exercise. I assume when you're retired, you'll have lots of time to spend with him.

Actually my rear seat cover/hammock style thing that I got from the pet store is working out really well. I took the dalmation and the bichon to the dog beach yesterday and practically all the dirt/sand is sitting on the cover when we get home and they exit. A few minutes with my cordless Shark vac and it's all gone. The rear seats underneath look stay unscathed as do the rear carpets. Just laying a blanket down doesn't offer near the protection since this hammock thing stays in place.

Thanks for the tips! (you too Explrsport) Dogs have a grand time in the car. They look soooo happy, especially the dalmation in the red Mustang. Imagine passing a person who insists on driving slow in the left lane and having the dog slobber hit their windshield.

I have a pug and they have some pretty sharp nails that grow quick. Can't have that in the mustang. Plus I don't want to deal with a "scooting" incident on the upholstery. She's a good dog though.
