anyone else's break? Automatics

Around Friday i noticed when i parked, the small strip of plastic that has the P in the shifter(i guess that's not what its called ) snapped in 2. I took the console apart and tried to jb weld it together but it didn't hold for long. Looks ghetto with the gaping hole there and always saying in drive.
What did you guys do to fix this? Junkyard search for the entire piece?
Even know what im talking about? i hope this is clear.

What are you kidding me man? The only auto thats going to be a 5spd is maybe one with a shift kit. My 98GT was an auto, and i'll never own another auto stang again

I said there is NOT MUCH, not there is NO skill involved. And you're telling me there is MORE skill in driving that than a manual??? And we aren't talkin about a 10 second car here bud. How many of us on this forum have even hit 10s I'm talkin shot for shot, auto vs manual. Not completely modified to a $50k race car or the car in your avatar...

I know what you guys mean about the auto, the shifts are slow and a bit jerky, maybe due to aging, lol. Never driving decent car with a stick, other then my uncles svt focus,(which he got rid of.) and countless trucks. If the tranny gives out, a complete motor/tranny swap will be in place.

How much skill does it take to step on a clutch? That's the only difference. I'm just saying don't bad mouth an automatic for being slow. Most of them will beat your 5 speed at the track. A fast automatic is much more fun and challenging than a slow 5 speed anyday. Are you even running 13's?

First off, what does me running 13s have to do with anything???
Second off, I haven't been to the track yet so I will let you know when I go. And im am not ONLY talking about the drag strip here. Taking a 5spd around a road-course or "drifting" (which I dont care for, but never the less...) requires quite a bit of skill...

ALSO, lets take a stock form of my car, or even my car with my current mods. Now lets take it to the track, BUT PRETEND ITS AN AUTOMATIC. Ok now I make a few passes down the track, and you'll notice the times are relatively close to each other. Hence the automatic trans. NOW lets take my exact car but WITH my 5psd trans, and lets take a few passes down the track, now (lets say) i make a 14.5, a 14.2 and then a 13.9 sec pass on my three passes. Then lets say you jump in MY car and make a 13.2 1/4 pass. Are you saying there is no skill involved? You just (hypothetically) dropped a second off my 1/4 because of your skill in driving......

I also favor the 4R70W over the 5 speed. I can't add anything more to that other than what has already been said.

thanks for jumping in on this debate guys, some people don't understand the possibilities of an automatic.
and for sake of arguement, after I put my new TC and cooler in, on the same day i went from a 13.9 to a 13.4. This was before any of the big mods in my sig.

Anyone on the thread topic you will be able to get that piece and it probably will not cost much. Since you say you already got to the old one to glue it up, you have the hard part mastered already which is getting to the stupid part.

Thanks guys. I just get tired of hearing people bash automatics. I have owned a lot of cars including 4 speeds, 5 speeds, and automatics. In my opinion, it's not the tranny that matters, but the power. Any low powered, slow car is boring regardless of the tranny. A fast, high powered car is fun and a "hand full" regardless of the tranny. Quite frankly, the fun of rowing through the gears ceased to be fun for me a long time ago, on the street or at the track. Really, for anything much over 500 rwhp, you need an automatic, in my opinion.

No no no, you guys are missing the point. BY NO MEANS AM I BASHING AUTOMATICS. Personally, I dont understand how you can like them, I'm just arguing that there is more SKILL required in driving a manual. This is getting beat to death though, so i'll stop and all you automatic guy sare getting testy
