My GT can be pretty jumpy at part throttle & low RPMs in first gear. For instance, when pulling away from a stop or moving very slowly in traffic. It will jump a few times almost like a fuel surging problem. Is this normal for the Mustangs?

The car is fine in all other gears, and if I punch it in first from a stop it responds just like it should and is smooth on it's way up to 2nd.

Thanks

My car does the same thing. And everytime I feel it jump, I hear clacking from the rear end. If I slip the clutch a little bit more, the car takes off smooth..but doesn't that put premature wear on the clutch?

It's normal, it's just begging for more gas.

My 4.10's make my car very jumpy in first when just driving like a normal person, so i have learned to just accelerate quickly in first.

HAHA, i like that!

but yes, mine does it too...quite annoying. I just had 4.10's installed, and it seems to be a little smoother now though.

Both my old 2000 GT and my 2003 Roush have done that. I've gotten used to it.......

OK cool, thanks for the replies

Just wanted to make sure I didn't need to take it in for service. Still no service needed in 5,000 miles

No no, I'm serious, like when I let a girlfriend of mine drive my GT, she wasn't use to the clutch so she would let it all the way out and barly give it any gas, my car was buckin like crazy, like it really wanted to start moving. I was like uh, can you please give it some gas. U can make it go smooth at slow speeds, but it just takes some practice I think.

My car does the same thing, I think it is just how they are. If you punch it in 1st then it's ok. I usually accelerate slow in order to conserve gas, unless I am racing of course.
