the guy before me put on some cheap h-pipe, it matches the summit racing pic exactly almost. so im thinking this may be the problem. i have bbk equal length shorty headers, and this h-pipe.

it hangs really low, as it goes back it slants downward more. im wondering if this is a common issue or what before i purchase an x-pipe. i tried a MAC x-pipe before, the 3-piece one and it was a piece of crap. so im sticking to a one piece design and hoping it fits well. anyways, what do you think of these pics, mid-pipe issue or how my headers sit?

the way the hangers sit kind of makes me question the mid-pipe. i wanted some input before i spend the money on this x though.

here is how the muffler meets the h-pipe also

its not necessarly a problem except for pretty extreme driveways. 99% of the time i clear, but every once in awhile i can hear it scrape. plus looking at the car from 100ish feet away you can get a view of the gap. im just getting picky with whats left i can fix on the car.

Looks like they had worries about clearence with the driveshaft and maybe trans. I put a 2 1/2" Prochamber and 2 1/2" Magnaflow and after removing the fuel line bracket and moving the lines up higher and mounting them else where I have tons of room now even with a alumium driveshaft.

possibly, the prior owner has done some pretty stupid things.

it fits pretty good until it starts going back. to me it looks like the hangers arent allowing it to tuck up as much as it could. overall though, doesnt it just appear to be the mid-pipe itself?

its a t5-z trans, stock crossmember, ect. my engine mounts arent sagging, they were really new to my suprise, polyurethane mounts.

only other thing that came to mind, arent vert mounts like 2 inches lower then the coupe/hatch? i was thinking maybe he placed those in the car causing the header to sit low, which inturn makes the mid-pipe connect and hang lower

i just dont want to spend 250 on this bassani x-pipe and have it not fit. i had a mac one i attempted before, it fit horrible but i think that is self explanitory.

Before you go crazy buying a new one, I suggest the following:
Cut off the hangers on the mid-pipe. Loosen the bolts to the headers and cat-back sections. Put a jack under the mid and start cranking it up WHILE THE BOLTS ARE LOOSE. Get it to where you want it to hang and then tighten up the bolts. Go to the muffler shop and get some hangers welded back on it. This will work if it is done properly.

My long tubes sit about 3" from the ground. I really don't have as much problem scraping as I thought I would. Then again my car is lowered big time.

yea i have just under 3 inches at the muffler collector.

i tried taking my car into the muffler shop before to have different hangers welded on. i got the run-around and they said 150 bucks to twist it around. it didnt make sense and they didnt listen to me.

i dont know of any others around here i would trust to just take it in, and have them weld on yet. ill have to look around, i definately considered cutting my hangers and getting new ones though.

ive wanted an x-pipe for awhile, i always liked the sound of them. that was also part of my reasoning to spend the money on a quality one.

I have the ghetto summit H-pipe now too and it does hang low...just like the owner... :bs: But I agree 100% with tunedin302. That brought mine way up and i no longer have as bad of a clearance issue. cheap AND effective!

i had the same exact problem with my setup. i took off the H pipe and bent it about inch & 1/2 and it still hangs low.

we just tried that 3-piece on my friends 95 cobra and compared to that POS BBK h-pipe that was on it before, it bolted up and fit like a dream! I've also got a MAC long tube h-pipe with no leaks, no fitment issues, and no hanging...

I agree with tunedin though, cut off the hangers, jack it up while its loose, tighten it, and have someone weld on new hangers...
