i cut a coil off my rears and it sits pretty nicely. my car sits crooked....driver side lower, so i trimmed the springs to compensate for the lean and it sits awsome. i have cut almost every spring i have owned and had no problems so far. just dont cut too much...once you cut you cant cut back...oh and i wouldnt use a torch....heating the springs will do much more damage than cutting them...it messes with the spring rate and makes it handle like sheet. use a cut-off wheel and start with 1/2 to 3/4 of a coil. 1 coil on stock 5.0 rears is about an inch and a half lowering. i cut 1 coil then installed them without insulators and it sat perfect so i left the insulators out. if you cut too much install the insulators to raise it a little
