Anyone ever seen a firewall bend where clutch cable goes thru

Anyone ever seen this happen before?? I have a car that I bought, definitely a fixer upper, replaced the clutch cable and there was a big piece of steel that a previous owner had made that came out with the cable, I looked closer and it was to fix where the firewall had gave in and bent. How the hell did such happen???

They sometimes flex or tear, so reinforcement is fabricated. It's not common, but also not unheard of.

man and i thought i had some heavy clutch cables.........maybe previous owner butchered the firewall bad enough on a firewall adj install that he had to install some new steel

or its possible he used a big stupid hammer or pry bar on it for some reason. Without a picture, we're all just guessing but ive seen some really stupid people do some really stupid things to cars plenty of times.
