Hi, The part of the heater tube that screws into the intake is a little
to tall for the distributor that I'm using. It sits in front of one of the
outlet for the wires. I need to figure out how to get around this problem
I was thinking of grinding off part of it or making it shorter. Does anyone
know how thick this part is. Or how to take it apart? I could drop back
a ways on the pipe and cut if off and use a "L" with 3/8 pipe threads
and a piece of hose but this looks clean and I would like to stick with this
set up if I can.

If this is an EFI engine, you are going to need a place to mount the ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) sensor. The 95-97 Explorers mount it on the side of the coolant pipe fitting pointing towards the distributor.
