Has anyone out there fitted a Crane Cams XR-i ignition module (points replacement)?

I've fitted one to my 66 2 door hardtop with A code V8, and it binds up the vacuum advance. I can't run the engine yet, as it's still under re-build.

Is this a common fault (could be corrected with a couple of shims), or have I got a dodgy dizzy?

Thanks folks.

The conversion went great for me. I am VERY happy with it (had the Pertronix before the Crane).

I also have one and had no problem with binding. In fact mine has worked flawlessly for 7 years now.

Limey,

I have (had) one in my truck and it worked fine, but:

Faron on the FEFrum recurves quite a few distributors and I recall he stated he's had this problem with them.

You might try contacting him, perhaps he has a solution, or can fix and recurve it for you if you were willing to ship it.

HTH
