anyone get a 4R70W to work with a Stock 94/95 ECU?

thanks for all the replys, ill have to dig deeper into this. I am building a 92 4x4 ranger with a 5.0 and 4R70W..... I was looking at the Baumann standalone but then read about the 94-95 computer. I have yet to get a wiring harness, so ill have to deside what way to go. Would I have luck tuning it with a SCT chip?

My 5.0 and Tranny came out of a 97 Explorer.

my 4R70W swap was a disaster. a guy in pa (2 hours away) installed it when he installed the 410, but he messed up the wiring and it would not shift correctly. i could not find anyone locally to look at it (they all said they wouldn't touch it because there is too much custom stuff) after 6 months of banging my head against the wall and $2500 to rebuild it (the OD band got burned up driving it around a little), i finally said screw it and had an AOD installed.

i finally figured out that there was a short somewhere in the valve body and when either solenoid was supposed to open, they both would open part way. a new valve body would probably have fixed me up, but by then i was so fed up with it that i wanted to get rid of it.

i am very happy with the AOD. and tuning it is about as simple as it gets ... a 15mm wrench to adjust the kickdown cable and i'm done.

i could probably use a converter with a higher stall though.

for tuners, don is the man. i called him a couple of days ago to talk about getting rid of my tweecer and getting a tune from him, and he told me about how he deals with reversion (which was what i thought my problem was). that made me look at my maf situation, and i ended up orienting it differently, and that completely solved my problem!

the problem wasn't actually what i thought it was, but don took the time to talk to me and his input pointed me in the right direction. bottom line, don is a really nice guy and he knows his stuff like no one else. i wouldn't go to anyone else for a tune.

Here! Here! I second that. I talked to Don and Rob at a car show, last Summer. He was as excited (more actually) about helping me with my stockish auto Stang as he was his own car. It kinda went beyond wanting to make a buck. (I kinda got the feeling he would do it for free, if he could get away with it. Don't worry Rob, I know you charge for your services. ;) )

:nice:

I know he does! Mine's only partly OF, now. I've made a change or two, since last Summer. I hope I can still be in the OF club.

We should pick a Saturday, get a bunch of us and meet-up in Mansfield for some dinner and roundy-round racing, this Summer. What do you think?

I knew about the paint..I like those colors together and they look sweet on your car...I knew you were using the new wheels for your coffee table but thanks for the link, I never saw them on the car....looking good Rob....
Yeah I'm fine for a meet, i just need some notice as Jess took a HR Mngr job and time is "slim pickings"....I'm trying to figure out when I can make it to Norwalk or Milan.....they won't let me run with the kids in the car....:rlaugh:
If I could get one of them to drive it I could shave 150lbs or "dead weight" off....:nice:
