anyone going to be at the dunes?

Damn sounds like a blast! You guy's need to post up some vids i wanna see what it's like there! So there is some nice hills to climb? Figured it was all flat for the most part? So are sand hills harder to climb then dirt ones? We rode the hills in ohio when i lived there some preaty steep ones, but we did most of our riding in the snow threw the trails! Man everytime i read post's like this i wanna go so bad and buy another bike! Just sorta in the same boat as duner need to get other priorities straight first  just when you think you got it going good to :nonono: If and when i ever get a bike i'd have to ride all the way there or help one of ya out with gas or whatever cause all i got to tow it with is the stangs. Dont they rent bikes there? Are they worth a crap? Anyone know the rates. peace

nope no quad rentals that I know of... the do rent down at winchester bay, but there just little polaris pos's... There are some ok dunes at sandlake, nothing compared to coos bay or winchester, and it is pretty flat. Theres one major trail thats pretty long and branches out different ways, but for the most part, I've had the most fun off to the sides of the main dune areas, where all the steep tree shots are. We'll deffinately have to plan a :SNSign: trip next year I'd be down for that. I'm planning a week long trip to winchester next year the week after the 4th of july since its usually good weather and everyone else goes down on the 4th. oh and john.... just slap a hitch on the back of the 4 banger find a small trailer and tow her down :nice: theres a nice paved parking lot that you can park/camp and unload in :D

do NOT go to pro caliber... there a friggin rip off, I paid a little over 7k for my yfz the week after they came out, my friend bought his a week after me from them and paid nearly 10k (he didnt know what I paid untill he brought his home). I'd suggest going to action motorsports, alot of ppl dont like em, but they have the best prices around here that I've found. You'd like the yfz450 or the honda 450... both good quads, the yamahas a little faster and will outhandle the honda, but the honda is more comfortable... them new raptor 700r's are nice as well!

yea, yfz450. yamaha's best dune bike outside the banshee. next in line imo is the raptor, i love mine for all around. never gotten stuck on the trails, and it had no problems at the dunes even with my taller gearing.

ill throw up some vids of my dumbass climbing a hill at the dunes, we took minimal footage last trip though. didnt want to stop riding.

yeah, just sucks taking a hit on new bikes. if you find a clean used one, you can get a nice yfz for 5k, sometimes cheaper.

cousin bought his 700 new like 3 months after me, and paid almost 500 less. :nonono:

hehe yea, I believe yamaha is still offering the YFZ and the 700R at the same price... I nearly bought the 700R, and theres days where I wish I had lol, the fuel injections gotta be nice, as well as the comfort :D

yeah, i think they are the same or like 100 difference.

they are two different bikes, but both badass. i bought mine being strictly a trail rider and have been really happy. if i rode strictly dunes, id probably have a 450 myself.

the comfort thing is nice though lol. especially coming off a broken wrist, the suspension helps me out quite abit for now.

yea I bet... I love the way mine handles and how it lands when jumping, but man... riding around on the flats at the dunes... theres so many people and its so tore up most of the time that it beats the hell out of ya lol

yea, my wrist took a thrashing last trip. i can only bend it about 1/2 way still after being out of a cast for 2 months. muscles are still so stiff and scar tissue, so those jolts going across the flats were killer.

this time i brought my wrist brace for the flats though :D hopefully these spider gel grips help some too.
