Anyone have a good jack that didn't break the bank?

I need a new jack, my second craftsman was just as much as a POS as the first one.

It needs to be able to lift my car obviously, my explorer, and my E350 work van.
So i'm thinking the 1.5 ton isn't going to do it. Anything 2 ton or more should be good.

I'd also like to be able to get the jack under the frame rails on my mustang, seems all the ones that start at 3.5 inches are very expensive.

Anyone find a good deal?

I think my dilemma may be that the lower jacks don't go as high, and the fram rail on my work van is very high.
Van frame is 16' high.

I'm considering this one because of that.

5.5 inches start seems a bit high, but i may have to deal with it.

If someone knows if this is a generic jack with their label on it, let me know and i'll go to the store and get one.

I got mine from Harbor Freight. Its a 2 ton or 2 1/2 ton. I can't remember. My stang is lowered a bit more then 1.5". Its close but it does slip under the frame rail. I mainly bought the Jack to lift my pick up...2002 Silverado 2500HD extended cab. Lifts that bad boy no problem. High enough to get the 4 ton jack stands underneath it. The jack was $69.99 if I recall and shipping was 10 bucks. Try going to www.harborfreight.com They have some pretty good stuff. Good luck

I just have the cheap 2 ton floor jacks that were like $20. I did see one at wal-mart that was a low profile at the jack point that would be nice for lower cars.

Get a good 2.5 ton or so, and if it's too high, keep some 2x6 pieces in your garage. Drive onto the 2x6's when you want to jack. This should give another 1.5+ inches. You should be able to get a decent jack for under $100 then. It's a bit of a pain, but so is spending $250+.

got mine on sale from harbor frieghts for like $50, regular about $70... it's a HD 3 ton lifts about 18".

I got a Black and Yellow Craftsman for my Birthday a few years back and it did not work and had to be returned, the 2nd was broke and had to go back, and the 3rd one worked but crapped out after the 1 year warranty was up! The replacement Power Pack costs more than a new jack does, I dont know what is going on with Sears now. I also need a jack that has a lift height of at least 21" to get my truck off the ground, right now I am borrowing a friends jack, I think its made by Michielin Tires.

I work out of a huge bucket truck... i carry a cinder block in the back for when I get a flat... to stack the jack on. I also carry 2x4's in case I get stuck, to throw under the tires.
