Anyone have a homemade CAI for a Fox?

I need one because my filter is just hanging out in the open sucking in hot air. I did a search and all I got was SN95's. Does anyone have some directions for a fox with a cone filter? I was looking and most people used PVC and rubber elbow's from the Repot Depot. Anyone have some detailed pics or the parts needed to get my filter to my inner fenderwell?

I made one from the MAF back, into the fender. They make these things that are rubber and have 2 hoseclamps on either end that connect pipe. I put one on the end of the maf and then added a short piece of 3 in ABS pipe, next i used a swooping 90 degree angle peice of 3 in ABS then another piece of 3 in pipe and the cone K&N went onto that. Pretty simple cost me about 6 bucks with out the filter. Heres a picture...not the greatest but its something.

I was thinking about making one out of PVC, but just decided to buy a chrome BBK unit used w/ filter for $75. Afterwards, I was at autozone and saw some flexible exhaust piping that I thought might have worked well for an intake pipe since you can kinda shape it how you need it (within reason).

I haven't done a cold air intake for my Mustang (because it's carbureted) but I put one together very easily for an LT1 Camaro I owned. I ordered the piping through JC Whitney ( http://www.jcw.com ), got rubber couplers from Lowe's home improvement plumbing dept., and a K&N RE-0910 clyndrical filter from an auto store. Pretty cheap and you can customize it pretty much to the dimensions you need but substituting out parts. Good luck with whatever projects you decide to pursue.

Just leave the stock unit in there and remove the entire silencer from the inner passenger fender. That gives you cold air with less restriction.

Seems like everyone always jumps to the conclusion that EVERYONE still has the stock air box when they are asking about CAI units. Some people have bought cars w/ the stock air box removed! Sounds to me like - if you read the original post - the guy has a conical filter w/ a cold air intake under the hood and it sounds to me like he wants to create his own unit putting the filter in the fenderwell. Whatever setup he has, it doesn't sound to be stock or it wouldn't be "just hanging out in the open sucking in hot air."

Not trying to be an ass, but doesn't sound like you read the post.

Made mine out of mandrel bent Walker exhaust ells (3.5" upstream of the maf; 3.0" downstream of the maf); rock wool insulation and rubber-stretch tape from Home Depot to insulate it; and various truck intercooler/radiator hoses cut up to form the rubber connectors between components. Aluminum plate to form the cold air box; closed cell insulation to seal to underside of hood. Link to picture below....
