Anyone have any idea if Ford has plans to make the auto trans "shiftable"?

I REALLY want a new stang...but I really like the the "manual mode" in my current auto-equipped car.

Before anyone says "get a manual"....I had a manual 2001 GT and would get a new stang with a manual if I could...not an option this time around.

Doesn't Ford already put shift paddles in the taurus sho and edge sport? Come on Ford! Put some in the stang too!

I'm in the same situation as you. There are pluses and minuses to every car, but we are considering either a second mustang for our second car next year, or maybe a Camaro. There are some things about the Camaro I like better, some things about the Mustang. A very small thing is what might sway us either way. I'm hoping by next summer, they are offering the Mustang with an auto that has the 'manu-matic' function. If offered, that might be the thing that sways us to the Mustang.

I'd put money on it.

They developed the most amazing paddle shifters I've had the joy to drive, the Jaguar XK and now the XF and XJ. (prior to Tata purchase)

I was thinking about waiting for a manual with paddles and I assume it won't be too long before they put it out, but I went with the manual. It's so nice to row my own gears again. My 05 was an auto and with the help of the bama chips tune, it shifted smartly, but still love to shift manually. Of course the excellent steering wheel controls and off the hook electronics package makes it easier to live with....

Wife can't drive stick.

If/when they come out with paddle shifters/manual shifting ability for the 6-speed automatic it is going to be VERY difficult for me not to go find a black loaded GT and buy one!!!

Teach her?
It's not some mystical power only men have. I taught my GF to drive a stick in a few minutes.
Taught a friends GF in an hour.

I only WISH my woman couldn't drive a manual! That way, she'd be outta the picture in this... oh wait... That's right, she does run things... Heheheh

We choose auto anymore, though my "race car" has a reverse manual VB. When I test drove the 2011GT manual and auto, I was sold on the auto. Probably more because I drive diesel powered manual transmission trucks which shift quite differently than any car I've ever driven, and it TOTALLY threw off my timing. It wasn't until I really laid into the throttle(and therefore, shifts) that I felt comfy with the M6. After all the fun, I decided to wait until next yr, or later. I sense a DI engine in the somewhat near future. Plus, I may actually be in need of a new truck soon and wouldn't wanna be strapped financially any more than I already am.

Paddle shift should be available, but you just know that's going to increase the price.
