LED:

The LED is easy, black to the controller output, blue to ground. If you want varying intensity of red, leave the yellow disconnected, if you want varying color, connect it to 12V switched.

Hello to everyone here at Stangnet.com! I am new to this board but well travelled in the pro-touring realm, NasttyZ28, etc. so as you can imagine I'm primarily a GM guy. BUT-I had to register just to try and help clear up an issue with me, Mr. Baskin and Nick. We install Mark VIII fans because we feel they are the best on the market bar none! And, we use DC Controllers for every one. Making a long story short, he is an email of which I sent to Nick in regards to Mr. Baskin. I want to publicly say that Brian is an awesome guy to deal with and he has been the subject of unfair criticism. I hope this email clears up the air some because I don't feel this needs to turning into a flamewar but at any rate, take what you want from it. Brian, I apologize if this has caused you any problems. -Jabin

Actually Nick, I did get an email from Brian just today about this whole issue. I explained that yes I am not pleased with the lack of communication so far and I do have my last three emails from which I have had no replies-until today. I try to keep a few in stock for my shop installs (which is through the roof now...) as well as a couple for online buyers but the demand lately has been growing. So, I even told Brian in one of my previous emails about the status of buying a larger supply but getting them faster because of my in-shop demand. He rushed my last order pretty damn fast but only after putting me ahead of a few people due to my regular business with him and I acknowledged him for the speedy service. I wish I could have my orders in two days but for various reasons out of his or my control, I cannot. My demand for his controllers has stripped my inventory over the last two weeks and my supply online also reflects my shop inventory. Well, with the increase in shop work, I have an issue with showing a positive stock on an item I am currently waiting for-and that's my beef-nothing more. My pressure for trying to keep a stock of controllers for both online guys and shop walk-ins has caused me to perhaps vent to you as a buyer about my inability to get a response from Brian about when to expect more controllers once my order has been placed-I have to know in advance so I can tell my customers (four in the shop right now...) when to expect their vehicles to be done and ready for pick-up. Brian has always been in good standing with me and usually he responds to emails within a couple of days but lately, he hadn't been-why he told you I have not been in contact with him I don't know. Regardless, he has been up front with me all the time, he is a great person to deal with for technical problems and while he has been having issues with time schedules, it is by no means his fault entirely since he does run his business as a one-man department and I have offered my services through my sales to act as a troubleshooter for tech. issues whenever I sell a controller to alleviate some of his stress with getting back to people. There are better and more tactful ways to handle issues with people other than to flame them on a public forum when he does not deserve it. I have orders myself to deal with as well as a few online guys but if you are demanding a controller in the timeframe you need one, I'd rather issue you a refund and that way everybody will be happy. Jabin; Let’s get some things straight here

1) I had none of your money
2) I made no commitment, that I was two weeks late on or otherwise
3) At least four of the six controllers sent early on the basis that they were needed for the scheduled install ended up on ebay, there is no reason for me to respond to the same request for four more on the same basis
4) Your first mention of ebay or drop shipping was in an email sent today

Now, given that I never agreed to or had any conversation with regard to drop shipping orders and there was certainly no mention of ebay in any of the emails, and given that I never received payment and didn’t agree to any obligation, which I was two weeks late on or otherwise to ship you controllers, how well does this correlate with your portrayal of me as someone who is hiding from his commitments? If what Nick posted in this thread is not an accurate portrayal of what you told him, then say so. If you disagree with any thing that I’ve stated here or find them in any way ambiguous, then put it on the table and we can debate it.


Nick, you seem to believe that I’m obligated to do business with you, that’s simply not the case. As I stated before, you’ve been compelled for several months to cause trouble for me and my company, I’m not about to sell you a controller and in turn add fuel to that fire. There are plenty of other vendors to buy from, both spal and flexalite are making competing products that you can use, you can buy from one of them or use Monte Smith’s circuit. Nothing good will come out of me selling you a controller.

I only have good things to say about DC Control. Let's see, it's the best unit you can buy for any fan control in my opinion. It's hand made and tested to make sure they work. I could continue, but I'll try to keep this short. You can see my personal experience in a thread I made a few months back when I had trouble. [Click Here] If you don't want to read that whole thing: I fried my controller through over voltage, but even though it was my fault, Brian came on here and helped me out the best he could. Taking time out of his, I am sure, busy life to help someone he has never met. Where else do you get customer service like that in this day and age? But like I said, I have nothing but respect for his product or the company.

regardless what happens here, this is the ebay sellers fault. Drop shipping without noting that in an ad should be illegal on ebay.
You aren't the first this happened to, and you won't be the last.
IMO, don't sell things you don't stock.

well from everything ive heard.. hes a straight up guy and i plan to order his FK 35 controller tonight or tommorow afternoon.. off his website. I believe in a case of a small supplies, your best bet would have been to go to brian in particular. Past the dealer and so if you had a real problem with him you would have had the right to post something. No such person should start a thread stating there thoughts and assumptions and try to provide them as the truth. I can understand where your coming from Nick, and I can understand where Brian comes from. Technically your at fault for slander which could be taken to court BUT it's not that big of a threat, since everyone knows what a good guy brian is. So take it to thought that next time, when its a small supplier/manufacturer, deal directly with him. If you have problems then you will have every right to start something. So good luck nick and good luck brian... it'll work itself out

Okay. 1.) I have emailed you several times Brian inquiring as to when you can have the controllers ready to ship since between our personal discussion, you've mentioned manufacturing issues which has caused you to build the controllers yourself and thus that extends the turn-around time. 2.) The comment about being 2 weeks late was in regards to my attempting to find out from you whether you have the controllers ready to ship before I place an order. I waited two weeks before even getting a response from you and so far you still have not told me whether you have a ready to ship stock. I know you are a busy guy and all I was trying to get from you is an answer as to the wait time. I guess it is my fault for listing a certain quantity but not going in and reducing the quantity (which I will fix ASAP!) when shop installs suck up what I have. And 4.) I have tried calling you at your .......8951 number but you have not answered nor returned the call nor do I have the ability to leave a message since you must not have a voicemail. I guess it comes down to me making a mistake by even listing the controllers for my local customers when the buyers can extend way out of state-it's too tough for me to keep a running stock for them when the local demand stays high. So from this experience, I will not list them anymore and instead keep my stock for my walk-in customers. Brian has a great product and it's sad that this has come out like this but I hope this does not detract from Brian's reputation as supplying a great part. So Brian, I hope you email me sometime soon and Nick, since I have not heard from you, I assume a return is fine with you then and that's what I'm going to do tonight in regards to your order. -Jabin

Jabin, this is really disappointing, we’ve done a lot of business and until this point, you’ve been great to work with. I realize that people are generally at their worst when things aren’t going well, but given what a small issue this started out as, this isn’t what I expected, this is night and day.

You started off with something as simple as not being able to deliver a product on time, I would have been ok with you even if you had passed the buck and blamed me for it to some level, but instead you reacted by portraying me as some sort of an idiot who won’t take responsibility for his actions, when in fact the responsibility wasn’t even mine to begin with. When I was made aware of this thread, I defended myself and did that without criticizing you or trying to damage your reputation in any way, Your response to that is to try and portray me as someone who is speaking out of both sides of his mouth while in fact you were doing the same yourself. Your array of back handed compliments doesn’t square that up

When I clarify what I’m saying and offer to debate you on any of my statements, your response is to not only disclose private information about my company, but to do it in such a deceptive manor that it in no way represents the truth. Let’s clarify, I told you that manufacturing companies were moving away from through hole assembly to surface mount assembly because it is less expensive. I also told you that the newer technology isn’t as robust since the parts aren’t wired through the circuit board, but are instead held to the board only by the solder, and that I have chosen not to ship a new design until I can verify that the controller would survive a drop test. I told you that I had chosen instead to hand build these controllers until I can verify that the newer technology can be shown to be reliable in a harsh environment, correct? Compare that to what you stated above.

Your method of redeeming yourself here seems to be to attempt to make me look worse, which by reference makes you look better. I’ll agree that it works in theory, but sooner or later you’re going to run out of friends and people who are willing to do business with you, regardless of what level of talent that you might have. This is in spite of the fact that I’ve always done a fair business with you, shipped you controllers even before your check cleared, given you controllers that you were ready to pay for so that you could try and generate business in new markets, and have helped you with things entirely unrelated to cooling systems. Do you recall the last thing that I helped you troubleshoot? It wasn’t a cooling system, it was a set of door locks, Do you remember what I charged you for that? Zero, any idea what a consultant with an engineering degree goes for these days? You've been treated as well if not better than any of my other customers, you need to step back and think this one through

Brian, I agree this has turned into a mess when it really shouldn't have. I have no intentions of trying to make you look bad nor make your company look bad. Here's the bottom line as I see it: Because of shop demands, my inventory on Ebay can look deceiving in terms of actual on-hand quantity. Nick places an order assuming he will get a controller right away out the door. I had already tried emailing you a couple of times prior to him ordering just to ask about whether you were up to speed on the controllers and I actually had other controller questions for you. Nick wants to know when his will be shipped out. I explain I am in contact with you about an order (needing to know est. arrival date first...) but that you have not returned my emails as of yet. A few mor days go by and I still have no email form you. Then you issue a credit on my account-but no emails still. And you have not answered your phone this whole time either. I'm not trying to make either of us look bad, this is how the scenario played out. I then emailed Nick about me not being able to reach you and if he needs a controller by Wenesday as he claimed, I would have to issue a refund. Next thing I know, he emails me with a link to this thread where he has started this whole post. Now Brian, you know I have no problems with you but even you have to admit you are next to impossible to reach at times and I understand some of that based on what you're having to deal with on your manufacturing dilema. And yes, you have helped me with some issues outside the realm of business but if you recall I have done quite a bit of legwork myself trying to land you some big contracts with your controller (FedEx was close if you recall but balked because they are going hybrid...maybe) and have even designed (with your approval, too) sales brochures and an advertising pamplet explaining your controllers benefits. Do you have any idea what that kind of service from another graphic designer would cost you? We both have issues and we both need to look past this and focus on buiness at hand. I do regret this had to come out like this and I still hope we can work this out. -Jabin
