Anyone have lowering springs with stock shocks?

I want to get new springs/shocks since i've got 18" cobra r's and they give me crazy wheel gap but i'm in school now so not much cash flow. Just wondering if anyone has the stock shocks, how much of a drop you have, and if there were any problems with them? Thanks.

I just ordered some 18 inch 03/04 cobras and ill be running them with h&r super sports with stock struts and shocks.

Its advisable that you go ahead and change those out when you install springs.. but there are plenty of people that dont. It might not last you 100,000 miles though.


A guy in town runs the h&r super sports on stock shocks and struts and hasnt had a problem. Maybe I'm just being naive??

I got an Eibach pro kit and decided to wait on the shocks. I went to get my breaks done recently and my passenger side rear is blown. I only had the springs in for maybe 10K miles. I probably should have done it all at once.

how low are you going?
i have c-springs and stock shocks, its a bumpy ride sometimes but not on the highway

Steeda springs with stock shock/strut here. Been on for about 25K and they need replaced. The ride is getting too rough for me. They were fine for a long time though.

I ran the stock s/s for about 4k miles with my C springs. Harsh ride and very bouncy. Just recently installed a set of Bullitt struts/shocks, and its alot better. Still bouncy at times, but not nearly as bad.

I ran stock shocks and struts for about a year with eibach sportlines (which i do NOT recommend because of the weird drop). bumpy and rough but i got used to driving it and it didnt bother me much. then i got kyb adjustables up front and things got only a tiny tiny bit smoother. i realized there wasnt much of a difference from stock struts. i dont mind the bumpy ride and i have some of the roughest roads ever. If i had to do it again, i'd go with H&R super sports for the raked stance.

H&R SS srpings with stock s + s. The only supporting mod I have done with the springs is CC plates and, of course, an alignment. The ride is mildy harsh and bumpy. If you don't mind the ride, everything is fine. Eventually, I'll get new shocks and probably stuts too.

Sounds like generally speaking, alot of people just go with springs, unless you're looking for a stock-like ride.

I personally do a TON of highway driving, and the roads around here are mostly really good. So just springs sounds like a good idea for the meantime.

I have the Eibach Pro Kit and stock shocks/struts for about 20k miles now. The rear drivers shock is leaking and it doesnt feel too great on rough roads.

Generally your ride quality will suck worse than stock as well as you will blow you shocks much earlier than they should. Depending on the situation people have blown their shocks on aftermarket springs as early as 5-10k.
