My buddy just bought a powder coating kit and a garage sale toaster oven and we're experimenting with some small scale powder coating. It's ridiculous how easy this process is, but there's definitely a learning process and it does take practice to get a perfectly smooth finish. So far we've done a couple little small brackets like the coil bracket, also a shift arm that he made for my coupe. They've turned out really nice except for a little orange peal but we should be able to get past that with some practice. In time we're gonna get a full size oven and take a shot at doing some wheels :D

Anyone else ever try this?

Go to Eastwoodco.com and look at their forums. They have a powerdcoating forum and guys with tons of info on there. I have done some small projects myself and it can be addicting just like metal polishing.

Heat the part in the oven before coating it and it will help with the orange peel problem.
