Anyone have the location of the PCV valve?

I am going through J's surge checklist and decided to purchase a pcv valve for the heck of it. Ford mechanics must have x-ray vision or something because I cant find the thing. Hopefully one of you have a picture/ descroption and I'm somehow looking over it.

It is located in the rear of the lower intake. You may have to lay on top of your upper to see it.

Yep, it is located at the rear of the lower intake

There is a thick pcv hose that runs from the driver side of the upper intake, all the way around towards the center of the firewall and goes down into the lower intake. At the end of that hose, is the pcv valve.

It fits snuggly in a rubber grommet, so pull carefully

The order to change it out is: Install rubber grommet, put back in the mesh screen (replace/clean if clogged), and then plug the pcv valve back in

I would recommend using Ford parts on this one. They're about 20 bucks (for the PCV valve, grommet and screen). The aftermarket PCV valves don't always fit nice and tight.

If doing it on the cheap, I'd use a Motorcraft PCV valve and then use a Parts store grommet and screen (the screen is called a breather if you get it at the parts house).

The way I was told to find it (and it worked for idiot me 8 years ago) is to stand on the driver's side. Reach your hand palm up under the upper intake manifold. You will feel a rubber hose there about the diameter of your finger. Follow that hose towards the firewall. It will lead you directly to the PCV.

I second the Ford parts as well. Make sure you do the screen. I found that using a magnetic pickup tool is an easy way to pull the screen.

have fun pulling the screen out if it has never been replaced...... i suggest a good pair of and a pick set you will most likely pull the "screen" (looks like a brillo pad) strand by strand.... im sure someone else here has run into the same thing

I have a pair of really long needlenose pliers for pulling the screens out if they wanna stick. Some guys use a drywall screw. Wythors' magnet idea is a cool way to start though.

To remove the screen you can either thread a wood screw into the screen or use a pair of bent 90 degree needle nose pliers to pull the screen out.

It's easy if you're working on Paul's car - the PCV is the only thing near or on the intake with a slightly dull appearance.
