Anyone have the Shaker 1000 in their GT??

I Test drove a 2005 GT back in October that had the Shaker 1000 package, and it was AMAZING!!!! It definitely had TONS of Bass! The Sales Guy turned the Amp up and the Subwoofers shook the entire Car, but there was NO rattle! It's the Best Stock/Dealer Sound System I've ever heard!

Personally, I chose to get the Shaker 500 (in my 06 GT) because I don't need all of that BASS in my Stang; that is what my '93 Xplorer is for.
I'd rather have a Loud Exhaust System in the 'Stang!

Unless you're getting a vert, just get the 500. The 1000 is just too much for an enclosed setting

The 500 is just fine for me as well.

I have the Shaker 1000. It was the only option that when I ordered I waffled a bit on due to the price. While overpriced, I have been extremely pleased with the option. In additon to the sub enclosure there is also a rack of 4 amplifiers mounted behind the sub enclosure.

I would order this option again in a heartbeat. I am not a metalhead but when I turn off the Shaker 1000, the remaining bass just isn't enough (
not even close for me). Also there is no rattling I am aware of when the Skaker 1000 is on in my car and volume turned up, none at all.

I guess to summarize, it is overpriced but it is well integrated with the car, makes a HUGE difference sonically, visually pleasing arrangement in trunk, and is very convienent to have it preinstalled and warrentied with the vehicle.

A modification to either the Skaker 500 or 1000 that I highly recommend is to change out the rear 5 x 7's. Replaced mine last night with a pair of Infinity Kappas and the the improvement to the high end and overall audio clarity is amazing.

It sounds really good, no rattles at all. The only complaint is the 6 CD head-unit. There have been hit & miss problems with skipping, jamming, etc. It also cuts the beginnings and ends off of some songs. CDs that are continuous play (like Pink Floyd or live concert CDs) have a break between songs where other CD players don't. I'm on my 3rd head-unit and last week it jammed up again. I eventually managed to get my CD's out, but I can only guess it'll happen again. When my warranty expires (should be in about 6 more months), I'll upgrade to a better aftermarket head-unit.
The good thing is that if you plan to install subs, the 1000 box fits nicely in the trunk and doesn't take up too much space. A custom box couldn't be much smaller.

Don't get the shaker 1000... for $1200 you could get a much better aftermarket system. And the shaker head unit sucks. It always has trouble reading CDs, especially MP3 disk, and skips a lot. I think I'll replace mine next year with an eclipse double din TV/CD/DVD/MP3 navigation system!

For $1200 I could get a whole new system!

I wanted the Shaker 1000 but didn't get that option because I had to take a black Mustang that was everything I wanted but the 1000. My Mustang is an 05 when they were hard as hell to get. I have the Shaker 500 and have installed an aftermarket subwoofer. I don't remember the Shaker 1000 hitting nearly as hard as my new setup. It has been a long time so it is hard for me to compare. Also I know taking the back seats down makes a huge difference. So I am assuming the same is true of the Shaker 1000.

I considered many factors with my new system. For one if you don't really care to thump every once in a while the Shaker 1000 is a waste. If you crank the bass up to one less than full the 8" subs in the door produce more bass than any factory system in a normal car. Just with the 8" some people thought I had a rear sub.

Now for those who like to thump here is my comparison. The shaker 1000 adds about 73 pounds to the car. The upgraded battery adds another 5 pounds, but this option is irrelevant. I suggest getting a car with the security system (a nice option anyway) as it also puts the better battery in. It is a good idea to have this battery with any aftermarket system. My goal for my aftermarket system was to build a high performance, but light weight system. Afterall this is a sports car and a 100 pounds will cost you a tenth. My setup installed by Ultimate Electronics was 1 high quality 12" (Alpine Type R) installed in a snuggled box right in the center of the back tucked up. The total weight of the system is about 60 pounds and the box takes up no more space than the Shaker 1000. It also looks nice. And I am pretty darn sure it hits a hell lot harder than the 1000. Now if you want lots of bass the Shaker 1000 is out. Insane bass would be like 2 12"'s. But that would easily weigh 100 pounds or more. Because of the ramp in the back of the 05 you will most likely be looking at a custom box. I probably paid about $1000 for everything. A glove box installed bass nob is also a very nice option not to forget about.

I have an early production 05 with the version A head unit and knock on wood I have only had a few issues on it a couple of cd's have errored out, but no jamming or anything else. Was not an option I wanted, but cause it was on the car I wanted I got it and glad now that I did.

I'm on my 3rd B version and it started to jam up last week. Version A was bad, and version B is not as bad (but not good). Seems to be hit or miss.

I have an early model 05 (OCT 04 build) and have had a few skips but nothing else. The only thing that rattles is the plastic enclosure where the trunk light is housed, a little dyna mat and good to go. If its too much bass you can always turn the trunk subs off. Best sounding stock unit I have heard.

I have the 1000 but I never listen to it. i like the sound of my roush exhaust too much.
