Well turn out a few weeks ago I heard a strange rattling sound coming from under my car drivers side and I was hoping it was not what I originally anticipated it to be!! 1993 Mustang LX with BBK Hi Flow Cats, anyways I had to take my 5.0 to my mechanic so he could replace my balancer so while I was there I had him listen to rattling and he said same thing coming from cats.
Well got a call today car was ready balancer replaced but I may want to replace hi flow cat X pipe soon because left side cat was blown and it may plug up muffler if not corrected soon.
Well I called BBK and spoke to Shar at BBK customer service and let her know my issue with x pipe and diagnosis and gave her date x pipe was purchased 4/23/15.
I am now currently waiting for BBK to let me know if they will have a BBK hi flow cat x pipe at their Temecula warehouse so I can pick up soon.
I am surprised that cats only lasted 8 months and now not functioning properly, I asked Shar if this was normal but she replied " i know we BBK were having issues with old model flow cats but we have since updated or Improved cats" Shar also told me a major issue to look at was shipping cats thru mail or ups or whomever, she says " cats can be frequency dropped or thrown and that can hurt inside cats to come loose'! Sounds right to me considering I was a UPS' er for 10 years and watched sorters, driver, loaders, and unloaders just throwing boxes and abusing boxes.
So my question is anyone having problems with BBK hi flow cats recently?
Should i expect these hi flow cats to not last at all?
Should i just go and buy an off road x pipe to use all the time except when emissions comes up?
