Stupid furnace isn't working. It's a Carrier Weathermaker 8000 (model no 58TUA). The blower is working, but the fires are not lighting. It has no pilot light, it uses a "hot surface ignition" system. There is no orange glow coming from near the burners. It usually glows right before the fires light. This glow stick is what lights the burners. I've followed the reset procedures outlined in the manual and I've got nothing. It's about 60 degrees in here right now, so any help is appreciated. I really hate to pay someone to look at it for something that may be simple. Also, the LED light is lit continuously, which I believe means the unit has power and no trouble codes.

Whooops... this was meant for off topic. Oh well.. it's cold.. more visibility is better.

Hey Honey.

You may want to try a forum that knows WTF they are doing with HVACs. :rlaugh:

Good Luck. :( It is as cold as ice pizs here tonight and only getting worse. We are expecting Ice/Sleet and Snow this evening. I am pleased the system is working. I hope things are not bad for ya'. Best wishes and I hope you have a fireplace.

Computer Thermostat?

I had a similar problem with my Trane unit. It turned out the batteries were low (not dead, it was still displaying fine) in my computerized thermostat and it wasn't sending the furnace the proper signal to fire up. I'd at least check this since batteries are cheap (and it cost me $90 for a service guy to come and look at it) Hope you warm up soon

Actually, this started when the batteries died. Or maybe a coincidence. Anyways, the batteries were replaced before anything.

I left the furnace off all Sunday and Monday. When I came home from work, I was going to check a few other things, but decided to try resetting it one more time. Damn thing started working. So I don't know what the problem was. Something needed reset, I suppose. Stupid electronics. Luckily I had a couple of good ceramic heaters keeping it above 70 in here. But everythings fine, now.

Good to hear Dark. Those little heaters can work well in a pinch.

Pleased to hear you did not roll the propane grill inside and turn on the oven to try to stay warm. You passed the idiot test; therefore, you are a keeper. hahahahhahahaha :)
