Pulled the engine out of my moms car a while back got a roller to put the engine in and was wondering what these heads are? SN-50717-2 bought a power washer to clean up the engine if anyone was interested in seeing a before and after pic lmk!

Have you had the valve covers off? There might be a casting number under there that can help.

I haven’t pulled the valve covers off I’ll get that done soon and keep you updated. Thanks!

Those look like aluminum heads

Yes they are aluminum heads for sure. But idk from what company. They aren’t gt40 heads.

Ford made some gt40x heads that were aluminum.

Oh nice! I’ll gave to pull off the valve covers and see if there’s any markings. What’s the difference between gt40, gt40p and gt40x heads

Would the spark plug that I’m using help at all? I tried to cross reference them but no luck.

Gt40 have 3 vertical bars on the end of the head
gt40p have 4 bars and a different plug angle
gt40x are aluminum they have a FORD logo on them I think.

That stamping looks like something someone punched in later. There will be more original casted part numbers under the valve cover.

I think the stamping is just a Serial Number.

Is the stamping the same on both heads, with a -1 on one and a -2 on the other?
