alright, i just got hooked up with a 5.0 motor out of a lincoln...dont know what year...but its the non HO motor. 82k miles and its gonna get a rebuild. i know all the stuff that has to be changed but that doesnt matter. what im wondering is, does any company make a cam for 1.7 rockers? or am i going to have to go to ed curtis to get one. the reason i want ne for 1.7 rockers is that ive got a set that are about a year old on my car now and i dont really want to have to buy new ones. im trying to keep this as cheap as possible. probably gonna go with a set of ported stock heads and a cam if i can find one. thanks

hmm

You can use them on any cam it will just open the valves more than 1.6 giving you more lift basically..The trick is getting a cam with those rockers than wont bury the valves into the top of the pistons..Check piston to valve clearance before ever startin an engine with the new cam unless it is a small cam..

well yeah, thats what im tryin to stay away from. id hate to have to fly cut the pistons since id have to pay someone to do it. but if thats my only option with the 1.7s than ill have to see which is cheaper...1.6 rockers or fly cutting the pistons. thanks for the help

edit: id like to find a cam that comes with springs and lifters also...since im going to need to replace those anyways.

hmm

I had stock heads with stock pistons, 1.72 roller rockers and an e-303 and had no problems with clearance.. I have a set of brand new replacement gt-40 valvesprings I'd sell ya for $40 plus shipping.. Comes with valve seals too..I will check and see if they work with e7's..If you want

yeah i found one with the help of rick91gt. im just gonna have to measure and see what kind of clearance i get.

heres the specs: Hydraulic Roller Tappet, Advertised Duration 276/ 282, Lift .513/ .529. im wondering if there will be any problems with that cam as far as clearance goes.

We had plenty of clearance with a cast iron GT-40 head, stock 93 Cobra pistons. That cam is designed for use with the 1.7's and ran really well for us, both NA and blown.

thats what i read in that post you made last year some time. im just wondering because its going to be going into a 88-89 lincoln 5.0 block....i believe. i dont know exactly what year it is but its a fuel injected 5.0. im just using the block and will be putting gt40 or ported stock heads on it. i hope i dont have to flycut the pistons...but i will if i absolutely have to
