I have a predator that I am pretty happy with but the new SCT seems to have some advantages - one part number for all Ford vehicles and I think you can store more than one tune on it (predator is supposed to allow that soon).

I'm pretty damn sure its not a fuse....one of my friends had the same problems with the same recalibration box and that was the problem....swapped out the box and fixed it all.... I am experiencing the same symptoms he was and i DONT wanna buy another recalibration box because i need a tuner anyways for my long tubes and 75 mm throttle body and plenum....yada yada yada...but yea.....you guys think i'll pick up a few horses with my mods and a handheld tuner....or should i just go to like KAUFFMAN'S up the road and have them custom tune it....which is better?
thanx

If the tuner has a good reputation, it would probably be best to go to them, since they can pretty much do anything while they've got it on the dyno. Might be even cheaper than the hand held micro-tuner, who knows.

I think you might have something other than just a the box going bad.
But yeah a good dyno tune will safely maximize your combo.

I have the Predator... no complaints. But I would definatelly get a dyno tune. I think I'd need to drive about three hours to get to the nearest place that does Dyno tunes from where I am. Havent done it.

COramprat

...I can take it. I think.

I don't know why the speed cal would affect your car the way...mine would just make the speedo inoperatable when it became disconnected. It could be that the wires where it is spliced have become loose and they control other things in the car. Check that to at least get the car running while you are shopping for you other option.

And I'd go with the dyno tune over just getting a tuner.

When the 99+ mustang's lose there speedo, it cause the idle problems and the ---- across the odometer. I forgot to plug me speedo in one time after changing the clutch. Did the same things. You can remove the speedcal and it will fix the problem till you can get a tune to recalibrate the speedo.
