I've tried adjusting it out, but it just won't go any further. And I gotta tell you, I'm not looking forward to paying those prices even for a stocker. I'm not so afraid to rebuild it as I don't know the tools required. I don't have the access like I did in the military to ANY tool I could possibly need. It's not so bad driving around town as it is on the shut down at the end of the track. The stock steering wheel doesn't help either. So will I need any special tools ? Thanx in advance.

I'm surprised you haven't gotten any responses yet. I took mine apart in my 69 and cleaned out all the old grease and checked all the parts inside. Mine was sloppy before and it made it better once I cleaned it out and readjusted the setscrew. I think there was some sort of rebuild kit but it was orginal Ford parts so I wasn't going to pay for that. I'm not sure if there is a kit for yours. There weren’t any special tools needed. The hardest part for me was getting the pitman arm off the box. I had to soak it for a few days in penetrating oil before if would budge. I also had to extra boxes for parts but once I opened them up they were worse than the one I was using. If you end up buying a new one go with Flaming River :nice:

10sec, what did you try and adjust out? Sloppy steering? What year car are we talking about? Is it linkage assist or an integral p/s box (p/s hoses attach to the box)?

It's a 67 mustang. No hoses to the box or anything fancy. Just the box. I tied to loosen the nut on the box and tighten the slop in the box itself.

I'm a jackass. I just had someone help me. They turned and I looked. The box seems to be fine. The reason there is slop, is the pin is lose in the ram cylinder where the pitman arm connects. DOH ! Easy fix.

That pin should be loose until the engine is running. If it's loose after that let me know.

Hehe, ooops. That would make sense I guess. No P/S pump. I'm just going to buy the conversion. So I don't have to re-align. But I may look at swaping everything if I can get it cheap enough, and just wait till I do the granda swap here pretty soon. Gonna have to re-align then anyway.
