anyone run 4.30 gears on a daily driver?

It pulss really nice but when you are taking off from a stop it maybe a little tricky especially in rain. But I love mine and cannot complain we will see how well I do this year at Fun Ford. Good Luck man you will like it!!!! :banana: :lol:
 
i talked to the owner of a reputable shop to ask about having them install my gears an he is trying to tell me i will need a new carrier when switching from 3.08s to 4.30s, i dont really know what the carrier is but did anyone else replace this, he said it would cost me 200 bucks extra, i know people who did gear swaps and didnt replace this, does this sound familiar to anyone? also he wont let me buy all the materials and have them install it, he will only do it if he buys all the stuff, but then he wants to charge me a little over 700 bucks. this doesnt sound right to me.

He is 100 percent wrong. You do not need to change the carrier in a 8.8 rear. In old Chevy rears you need to, put you DO NOT need to in an 8.8 Ford. If he wants the business, he will do the rear for you. Tell him you want to supply the parts, or you want to make sure that he buys all of the right things (i.e. FMS gears) and you want a copy of the receipts from that. You could find all the parts for ~300 bucks, and if he is going to charge you $400 for labor, that's a rip off. Minus the $200 for the carrier, that is $500 for parts and labor, thats about right. If he buys the parts, make sure you ask for a copy of the receipts.

i wouldnt even give them my business, they are very unprofessional, i called them one day an asked them about it an they took my info an said they would call me back, i waited 3 days and no call, i call them today an they try telling me they called but no one answered, but they dont know i have caller I.D. which records all incoming calls an there number was never on there, therefore they never called and were lying. then he tries to tell me ill need all these extra parts just so he can make an extra buck, no way would i give them business
