here is a link to a differential i think i am buying, to go with my new 3.73's,

detroit truetrac

i was just wondering if anyone else had it.... I am probably going with moser 31's at the same time, and was wondering some info about this kind of setup......

It is a clutchless setup for the rear that way i wouldn't have to worry about the trac-lok going out on me again.

I was also wondering what my other options are, SPOOL, MINI SPOOL, EATON, AUBURN LOCKER, please educate me some guys.... i don't want to do this but this one time....

thanks :hail2: :nice:

frpp part number m4204t31. can be had on johnbleakleyford.com for 440. i've ordered multiple times and have never had any sort of problem with them. also check out the 31 spline 03 cobra diff for 260. that's what i got and i must say it works great and isn't near as noisey as the torsen in my t/a.

cool deal, i am still keeping my options open though, the detroit one is only 359$..... they have a good name as well..... so i don't know....

Still open to suggestions on other diffs. etc.., thanks for your help man....

Oh yeah, thanks for the review on the eaton......

i would swear if you aren't a certain name around here almost no one replys to your threads.. :nonono:

but to those who have replied i appreciate your help....

i have the original detroit locker in my 9" rear with 31 spline axels never had a problem with it yet and its been in the car for 3k miles or so not too long but i kow alot of people wiht detrot lockers and they have had them in their cars for alot longer then mine alot longer and never had any problems with them either

thanks, i was actually kinda looking at those as well.......

Someone tell me what the major advantage to one of these types of lockers is gonna be over my factory diff. wiht new clutches etc...

I have the new Detroit Truetrac with 31-spline Mosers. It should be installed within the next week, so I can't give you any info about it as far as street manners, etc.

It's by far and away the heaviest differential I've ever seen and it looked extremely strong. I bolted it to the ring gear and everything mounts up with the stock hardware with stock bearings. I'm not sure if it has to be shimmed differently - I haven't gotten that far yet.

I got mine through Moser....

That looks like a worm gear diff. Like what torsen makes. They are pricey from torsen (I plan on getting one when my diff. goes). Quaife makes them for FWD cars. I have never heard of true trac and so I dunno about their pricing or quality or how theirs is setup (torque bias. etc.) compared to torsen. As far as how it works...lemme tell you its freaking complicated how the power distributes and whatnot. I somewhat understand it but dont ask me to explain it. I'm studying to be an ME and I plan on taking a gear analysis and application class at school eventually maybe I'll understand it then. If you think a planetary gearset is hard (like in an auto trans)....this is worse.

Don't go with an Eaton. My brother had a Eaton explode within in a year. He's running drag radials and around 300hp. They are supposed to carry a one year warranty. When he went to exchange the first one, they wouldn't honor the warranty. crapola

I was thinking of something different when I read the title...Sorry :D
