I'm currently running Flowmaster original 40's welded into my stock '95 GT's exhaust system. They sound good but I would like it a little louder. I still have my original H-pipe w/four cats on the car, along with my stock tailpipes. I intend to keep all of this to comply with California's smog laws, I would just like a little more volume.
If I took off the original 40's and put in Flowmaster 10's, do you think it would sound good? I have checked out a couple of other sites looking for a sound clip of 10's with stock exhaust, but no luck.

Get a h pipe with 2 high flow cats thats legal in Cali. I have the magnaflow catted H pipe with the 40 series mufflers sounds really loud when I get on it at idle its beefer than stock those 10 series are really loud and you might eventually get tired of them and besides if you buy the 2 cats H pipe you gain a little more horsepower since the 4 cats have pretty restrictive airflow and it will pass smog

Thanks fordtech28,
I'll check that mid-pipe out. No problems passing smog with only two cats?

nope the h pipe is smog legal in cali and it has a carb number since you are replacing the 4 cats with two better high flowing cat units BBK magnaflow both have them I went with magnaflow i got a great deal on it on Ebay just take the paper that comes with the h pipe to the smog place and you wont have any problems I have mine since 04 pass smog fine twice.

hey cuz

if you take thos 40's off and put the off road 10's, i think there single chamber flows, not sure but whatever the single chamber flows are, if you put them on with ur converters, itll sound very good, i live in SC South Carolina so tmw im having my cats cut off and adding 2, 2 chamber flows i think there the series 40's, u talk about sounding sweet, you'll get off on that! lol! just letting you know, go with the one chamber flows ull like it, even with the cats on it!

I'm just backin up what fordtech28 said. I'm also running a 2 cat H pipe. Just passed my 3rd Cali inspection. And like he said, just hang onto any CARB approved paperwork. The smog checks always hassle me over the visual, the actual emissions test I've always passed no problem.
