I need basically everything replaced on my front end including brakes, springs, shocks, sway bar and all the rubber bits. Would also like to add power rack and pinion. Car will have a 351W. 66 'vert. Rod & Custom sells this complete kit that would involve major surgery, but it seems much cheaper than all the component parts if bought separately. http://www.rcmotorsports.net/page6.jpg

$2500 covers complete tubular A-Arm coil over system, disc brakes, power rack, etc. I could not come close to that price buying ssbc brakes, randall's rack, GW uppers, etc. What am I missing here?

thanks

I have used and installed many of the kits from rod and custom and its just a great set up. Willy the owner is a great guy and a great help with anything concerning his kits I would recomend this set up to any one considering this type of swap.

I've basically decided on this system as well. I probably won't get into it until the end of the year (realistically). It seems to be the only kit that comes with EVERYTHING. No worrying about buying extra parts here and there. I'm probably going to ask them if I can drop the brakes so I can put some Baer's on instead, but other than that, I like the kit a lot.

As far as how easy it's going to be? Well, you'll have to know how to weld fairly well. I wouldn't want to go half-assed on the front suspension.

I can tell you guys that this is a complete system. No need to buy anything else, nothing. If you talk to Willy, he is the owner, he will answer any and all of your questions. As far as how easy it is to install the hardest part is the welding. If you are an experienced welder this is a must it will be a piece of cake. Your initial measurements from the existing local of the center of your lower control arms is another important factor, but the instructions are very complete and go into this quite well. As far as advantages, number one is rack and pinion steering. Number two is the amount of room you gain losing the shock towers. Three is the coil over setup, it just lends itself to unlimited adjustability. You can set this car up for handling, straight line performance or just a great street ride, and ride hight adjustability. You can even opt for the dropped spindles and get your ride real low without sacrificing ride quality and did I mention room, room for a pool table under the hood. If and when you do this the first time you drive the car you just wont believe that your driving your good ole mustang it is that good. There are people out there that say it is not worth the effort unless your doing a mod motor swap and there is no alternative and that you can get your car to handle better with the old type setup but I totally disagree. If you dont know how to weld hire a welder to do the welding. There are numerous guys that do nothing but portable work with rigs right on there trucks that will come right to your house and it wont take them long at all if you set up everything before they even get there. You have to also remember that it is a mustangII type kit, that has been totally reenginered and the components are way better than the original type system. Which just makes it alot better. You can also tell them to leave out certain components and use whatever brake shocks and springs you like.

The best thing about this kit is you can use whatever you want under the hood You have to position the motor mounts to your application thats what is so great about this setup its versatility. The only issue is your oil pan and what I do is buy an aftermarket rear sump and just mod it to fit. I have done this to move engines back and lower them. The interfearance is with the rack at the front of the new crossmember but I have only come across this when using a aftermarket deep sump, double sump pan

I am currently installing a similiar system in a 67 vert. It welded in easy. It was Heidt's street rod system made for classic mustangs. I bought it thru "Tim's street rod parts" I washington state. He offered the whole system for $1695 and "NO SHIPPING" Power rack and all. No coil over though. but it's available. I also purchased an IDIDIT tilt column at same time it was very simple to mock up also.

Just another satisfied customer from Rod & Custom! And as noted above, Willie is a great guy with a lot of experience. The quality of fabrication on the tubular arms is superb. Unfortunately I cannot attest to the handling yet, as the project has grown in complexity week by week...but the front end was a piece of cake!

At the 40th anniversary show in Nashville, several cars were on display with different engines, using this type of suspension. My favorite car (as far as the performance build, NOT COLORS!) was from Year One: KB supercharged DOHC Cobra motor w/ martz front and rear suspension kits...superb!
