Yes, i spoke with a TFS tech this morning and he told me that the Box R-series is very powerful. The regular R-series and the Box-R have the same lower intake but the upper is what makes the difference. Man now I don't know which one to get. He told me that the Box R- series would give you 40 horses more than the Regular R-series intake. I asked him if the Box-R was too much for my set up, since is from 3500rpm to 8000rpm range, his answer was that is was rated at that with a naturally aspire engine. He told me that the Box-R works awesome with a Super Charger, because the intake starts coming alive like around 2000rpm with the SC. I told him about my horse power with the street intake and his answer was that i was going to be above 500hp with any of the two the Box-R or R-series.

They recommended me to go with aftermarket fuel rails, if i choose the Box-R, just because that intake require more fuel. As per TF the Box-R intake is good for up to 1000hp. Don't think that i will make that much horsepower in the future but you never know. Not with a stock block lol.

Another issue was that if i go with the Box-R, i need to check hood clearance because is 12 1/4 inches tall. I have the Cobra R hood, so i have to check that. Also the Box-R comes with a 90mm throttle body opening and smallest TB you can put is a 75mm. I have a 70mm throttle body so i have to change that too.

Anyone running a Box-R intake.

What you have been told is most likely true, as it would be true for any short runner box intake for our windsor motors.
What the tech did not mention was the loss of low end power which is inherent to the box intakes. My 302 was almost embarrasing to drive from a stop when I put the comp cam box upper on with a cobra lower. After about 3500rpm the motor came to life, with a vengeance. I have the same upper on my 408w and can't imagine using a long runner intake on a motor this large. If you gear the piss out of a 302 the short runner would be fine, otherwise I would only recommend it for track cars, or stroker street motors.

I have not seen this intake, but will be looking for a solid metal upper when I add boost to the stroker. Can you provide a link?

yes my concern was that it was going to be to much for me even with my 347stroker. I am pushing like 8lbs of boost at this time with the stock pulley on my SC. I want something that can work with my setup, I like what i seen on the Box-R so far, 40hp more than the R-series is something that makes you think twice on which one to go with. I am going to change the SC pulley for one that would give me 12lbs of boost at least.

I think it would work well with a supercharged 347. I would be thinking about a different block too with the kind of power you could be producing. Or at least shoring up what you have.

yes, I know that i have to be careful with my block, i hope it would last me until i get a different one. I want to be pushing over 500hp by changing to a different intke and 550hp by changing to a smaller SC pulley. the thing is: if i go with the Box-R I'm also going to need a bigger Throttle Body with a spacer, and aftermarket fuel rails and you are talking about $350dls or more. If i go with the regular TFS R-series i don't have to spend the extra money but im going to be 40hp less.

I think you will be happy with the box intake. You already have taller gears, and the boost will offset some of the low end power loss as well. In the end you may not notice any loss in the low rpms, but will benefit from the improved airflow, especially with the new pulley.

How will the pulley change affect your powerband? Will you hit full boost sooner? How much sooner? I don't remember reading anything on this.

good luck rflow50,
