Anyone seen these brake mods for II's?

I found these from a flyer at a local parts store. I found their web address, and it seems like they have some good parts for us! check it out and let me know what you think. Zig's Street Rods (scroll the left part all the way down and click on "Mustang II Components")
Anyone have any experience with these people?

I want to get, at least, the brake caliper brackets from them. (maybe get the calipers from the j-y.) But i wanted to ask you guys first.

That's a good price for a complete kit. The brackets are on eBay all the time for less ($60). If you get used calipers you should rebuild them anyway, might be cheaper/less hassle just to buy the complete kit.
 
Perfect. We we're going to get the kit from this guyhttp://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...tem=2478594018&category=33564&sspagename=WDVW on ebay, but his feedback leaves a little to be desired. So with this kit from ZIG'S, the only other thing to buy would be the brake hoses right?
Also, the kit on ebay comes with the 2" dropped spindles. But not sure how a II would look dropped. Does anybody have any pic's of there II lowered. And if you lowered the front 2" how do you go about lowering the back. I don't like the look with the back jacked up.

It might work better, but I don't really need more braking power, as my car only weighs 2400 pounds. It will stand right on its nose when I hit the brakes. I just want the larger rotors because its an easy way to bolt on 5-lug wheels that match the 9" rear. But the 11" rotors will run a lot cooler than the 9"s, and placing the stock caliper further from the center of force does yield a greater leverage, and therefore, better braking. Probably 20% increase in holding force.

I also just rebuilt the entire front end a few years ago, so the calipers, pads and brake hoses are still brand new. I get special shop price on rotors, so those will be dirt cheap, all I want are the stock-type brackets!
 
I don't think the Granada brackets will work. The Granada front end is really just a carry-over from the older Mustangs and the Maverick, and has a completely different spindle arrangement. If it did work, others would have done it already.

If you are truly happy with your current braking ability, get the 9" 5-lug rotors. If you really want the bigger brakes, then go with the GM calipers. You'll spend a hundred bucks for the brackets, no matter what caliper you use, but the GM calipers are dirt cheap-and they work. Plus, you'll have an umptillion choices for pads.
 
I recommend going with the 9" 5-lug rotors if you don't need additional braking power. How did you get your car down to 2400 lbs? You have a 302, right?

If your current 9" brakes are good enough for street use, then overheating is only a problem if you are doing some road racing. In that case, the Granada 11" may not even be large enough.

Wilwood makes their own branded caliper that is the same pattern as the GM mid-size caliper. That will get you a caliper without the nasty Brand-X stigma. ;)

There is a caliper mount available that allows the use of the '79-'83 Fox Mustang caliper with the early Granada 11" rotor on the MII spindle...but I don't think that its any improvement over the MII caliper in braking power. It has the same diameter piston as the MII caliper.

I've never seen an adapter that allows the use of the early Granada caliper on the MII spindle.
 
I gutted most of my car, I don't even have carpet inside it. Front bumper is gone, supports are gone, rear bumper steel is mostly gone, went with pinto manual steering, aluminum heads, intake, radiator, cut out much of the inner fenders, and anything else I noticed that didnt look light.
 
Now you guys have me reconsidering all the brake options.

Overkill IS the best policy, so I want to go bigger rotors without a doubt. But the aluminum (4-piston?)calipers I read about are a lot lighter than stock iron, so that would make up for the increased rotor weight. I think the alum calipers are based on the vette design?
Bah. I'm not sure what I'll do at this point.
 
I want to use the 11" Granada rotors on a 77 I'm working on but didn't want to use GM calipers either. Not that GM presents a problem, just that I prefer to keep the car all Ford equipped.

I'll check with a salvage yard to see if they would be able to match up a late model Ford caliper and bracket assembly for the Granada 11" rotor, installed on a II, from a Hollender parts exchange manual. Maybe something in the truck line would work. Have to do some checking on it. One of my local yards is easy to deal with and doesn't mind looking in the manuals.
