There are two up locally and another one sold a few weeks ago. I know the issues with belt, and have read a few horror stories about broken impeller shafts. Most negative feedback seems to be from people running too much boost on a kit that's not designed for it. Anyone still run one? Any idea how much power I can expect from the 9# kit (I know it won't actually make 9) with h/c/i. The price is really that good that i am considering it

Ran one on my 331 for a few years. 165 CC AFR heads, X-cam, typhoon intake...made 7psi. Only made 400rwhp, ran 11.6@119mph. Pretty much a budget build. Mine was rebuilt before I put it on. Still have it sitting in the garage.

That's the power I'm looking for, I have 306 with trick flow top end, not sure it would make 400 with my setup but it would be close

unless you get the complete kit dirt cheap, I'd pass. Inferior quality, performance and no support.

As long as it has every nut, bolt, bracket, tube, pulley, etc..and you know that it's not going to perform anywhere near a Vortech, and are prepared for the eventual bearing/belt issues, then that's cheap enough. Does it come with an FMU, intake and discharge tubes, etc?

Now if it were me- I'd save up until you can afford a used V2 kit for around $1200-$1500 and do it once. If you ever need to upgrade/rebuild, send it to Vortech, Need belts, pulleys, brackets, tensioners, etc? Pick a dozen vendors. Want to resell it? You'll get your money back.

Just my .02

Well I guess I was looking for someone to talk me out of it, and that definitely helped. As far as I know kit has everything, and I am not afraid of replacing belts. I guess biggest thing for me is price, it's hard to find used blowers up here (besides powerdynes i guess) and I haven't seen anything close to the 1500 price point for a vortech, everyone wants $2500ish. But I don't want to buy something and be disappointed just because I was being a cheapskate. I have resisted the urge to cheapskate on this car so far. Hmmm, that other website has a complete a trim for a good price. I'm at a bar right now and may drunk buy it. Someone peer pressure me.

I'd go with an On3 turbo kit at this point.

The on3 turbo kit is cheap....good supporting parts are not. My on3 kit has me at about 4 grand to have my car running.....and a lot of work. Might even tip the scales higher than that !

Every performance part has its downfall. Its all about what you're will to sacrifice.

I've got four kids already so didn't really need my nuts. My wife tied them to the back of my truck. Lol [emoji418]

Well that would be tempting if I had $1600. Lake in the Hills is only 10 mins away from one of the bars I bounce at.

Wonder why version you got? Everything has to have supporting mods.

If I wanted to turbo charge I would not buy an On3 kit. Those that I know who have them all have 3k or more into them. I would need a new transmission and different rear gear to run it successfully. An on3 kit would cost me north of 6k most likely if I ever wanted to drive it. I'll pass. I don't need block splitting power anyway, this is a street car.

Don't get an On3 Kit. IF you must go turbo, and I mean IF you MUST have one, I would go with a Hellion kit. Go as @hoopty5.0 @Boosted92LX how much fun it is installing and tuning a turbo on these cars. They can loan you some jackstands.
