Anyone use an FM Modulator?

So I have been reading that a wired FM modulator is the cleanest way to plug an mp3 player into the MAch 460. Has anyone else tied this and have any recommendations or tips for how to do this and what to get? Also, I have never taken the stock unit out of the dash before, any tips? Thanks for your help.

I heard that the FM modulators suck, audio quality is severly degraded and they are subject to a lot of interference.

As for the stereo removal, just take your time and be careful with the trim pieces around the shifter and the stereo/ac controls. A Haynes manual would be helpful as would and actual trim removal tool.

Unfortunately mine is a 2003 so it looks like I'll have to go with the modulator. I read that the wireless ones were no good, but the wired ones that you plug directly into the antenna plug in the back of the head unit are pretty good. I was just wondering if anyone here has tried them.

As for getting to the head unit, do I really have to remove all of the trim around the unit? I did a search for directions and found nothing so I am guessing that it is pretty simple? Thanks

PIE also makes adapters for the 16 and 24 pin (2003.5-2004). The model is FRD03-AUX. Any RF modulator will sound like FM. Just check the back of your radio to see which plug you have.

PIE will also make adapters for the 2005+ mustangs. http://members.tripod.com/2005stang-auxbutton/
