coming home tonight, parked in the alley of my appartment in seattle, and go to get the garage key. come back, car wont start. not holding a charge. replaced alt a few days ago. there's a short somewhere and i cant effin find the thing. i thought it was my electric fan pulling all the damn power out of the battery, but i cant figure out what the hell it is.
so i leave it.
i take a shower and have a beer, relax for a little bit. i was planning on going out and trying to muscle it over the small grade to the street where i could roll to the garage. two hours later, as i put on my socks (im in my boxers no clothes on) i hear a reverse beeping. the car died in a 24 hour enforced towing zone, so i was kinda worried, but i never seen a towtruck there since i've moved in and i'm up at all kinds of strange hours of the night...
so i rip off the sock i was wearing - there was no time to waste..
i fly out the sliding glass door with my loincloth and no warmth. it had been sprinkling, so my feet were tingling with the 40* water.
i run over as the guy is lowering his scorpion's tail.
i tell him the quick story how the car died etc, and so he tells me to try to start it once more, then offers to give me a jumpstart. i then suggested instead he help me push it over the tiny gradient, where i push over and coast to my garage door, 50 feet away.
talk about a close encounter, and a COOOOOOOOL tow truck driver! and the best part, as i had my hood popped, he came over and said "wow, looks like you've been putting some good work in on this thing. with a manifold that wide, looks like you've got yourself a 351 swap.."
my jaw dropped and i shook his hand. aparently he did a swap a few years back into a 84 gt350, and he repainted it to gt351
so i leave it.
