quick question, on the msd ignition module's magnetic pick up, there is a orange wire and a green wire. without using the extension/adaptor, if i splice right into the wires, which wires are they connected to on the vaccuum advance distributor wires? thanks in advance :)

I used to run an MSD al6 ignition and the 1985 ford distributor with a steel gear and lemme tell ya, it will "work" either way and you will not harm anything by having the wires backwards. After my MSD burned out (curses), I replaced it with a hi-6 and was left holding those 2 very same wires in my hand and scratching my head. So I just said oh well and hooked them up. The car will fire up (meaning you did everything else right) but it will idle super lopey and funny. Then swap the wires and it will run like a champ.

If my memory serves me correctly though:

distributor is orange, brown and black/ground.
Orange=green
brown=purple

You did not indicate which MSD igition box you were trying to use. I have to guess that it is a MSD 6 type and a magnetic pickup type distributor. The vac advance has nothing to do with the wiring. "IF" this is what you are using, you use the Violet and green

Are you asking which wires to a Duraspark dist are the signal wires? If that is the question, the purple and orange wires from the dist. The black is a ground for the Duraspark box.
