Just curious who's not running turndowns with their dumped mufflers. I installed back the stock system on my car. The one tailpipe I had rotted out and I just threw it away. Now I got dumps but no turndowns or tips. Can this cause a problem. I've read a few threads mentioning it may heat up the fuel in the tank. Is this possible???

I used to have a flowmaster catback with tailpipes that never quite fit so I just took them off and never put any turndowns on or anything. Aside from being loud, the mufflers covered the axle tubes/rear with alot of black carbon soot from the exhaust and it just made a mess. It won't really hurt anything for a little while, but for the sake of keeping things clean I'd suggest that you at least get some turndowns for your mufflers.

Ok cool, yeah I figured it'll get the rear all sooty. I'll take a trip to Autozone one of these days and pick up some turndowns. Would they affect the sound at all?

Angle them to the side about 30 degree angle. It will help to keep the whole cabin of the car from resonating. It will still be fairly loud outside the car.
