Anyone with experience with Synchromesh ATF?

I am looking for a better man-tran fluid because the Castrol Dextron fluid i have sucks. I was looking on Steeda.com at the synchromesh fluid, and they say it is the best fluid you can buy for a Tremec tranny, and that the T-45 will shift smoother. Can anyone validify this? :shrug:

Also, if a transmission fluid works well with the 3650, does that necessarily imply it working well with the T-45?

RP, Red Line and GM Syncro is the best.

Factory just throws in cheap old ATF in.....
 
The GM synchromesh fluid is just fine to run. I used to use it in my T-5 all of the time. No issues with it and it reduced that cold run grind from first to second and second to third that I used to get just running regular ATF. I've got buddies that run it in their T45's and 3650's also.

Transmission fluid is NOT all the same. This isn't a matter of buying whatever is on sale that week. The transmission is designed with a specific fluid in mind. The reason being each fluid has different properties and flow characteristics that are taken into account when creating the tolerances and synchro materials inside the trans. WOuld you guys ever run 15w-20 in your engines when Ford states to use 5W-30?? So why is it any different for transmissions?

The ONLY Tremec trans that you are supposed to use Synchromesh with is the 3550/TKO. Everything else takes DexIII ATF.

If you get away with switching fluids, fine go ahead. The paper lined synchros in the T-5 and t-45 don't really work well with synchromesh but if everything "feels" ok then it must be fine. :rolleyes:

But like i said, trans fluid is not all the same.
 
Mobil 1 is TOO SLIPERY

All oils are slippery, and with most lubricated
components, the slipperier the better, but this is not so
with manual transmissions. The synchronization of
shifting gears requires friction to transfer energy from the
synchronizer, which is locked to the input shaft, to its
mating surface attached to the gear to be locked in as
the drive gear. Few modern transmissions use sliding
gears to change gearing other than for reverse gearing.
Synchromesh transmissions have the gear pairs constantly
in mesh. The drive gear is selected by using the
shift forks to slide a synchronizer ring, which rotates at
the same speed as the input shaft, in contact with the
selected drive gear. Once the drive gear is brought to
the same speed as the input shaft, the locking ring on
the synchro assembly is allowed to slide over and lock
into the drive gear.
